My Lollapalooza Review

I've finally managed to gather up strength to get on the computer.
WHAT A WEEKEND!

My cousin and I got to Grant Park on Saturday around 10:15 a.m. to try to be front row for Lupe. That meant waiting over 8 hours to see that man. The thought alone was a drag, but I knew it would be worth it. Before Lupe's set, a band named Brand New took the stage, and all hell broke loose. Most of the people around us were there to see Rage Against The Machine so once Brand new came on, people started moshing, shoving, and pushing. I've been to a good amount of concerts-of all genres-but I have never EVER been so cramped up next to people in my entire life! There was only one row of guys in front of us, and I seriously thought they were gonna pass out and die because people were pushing us will all of their might, just so they could be in the front for Rage. After Brand New ended, I thought people were going to back up so we could have a little breathing room. Nope. It only got worse. People were passing out left and right...and security guards had to keep diving in to get them out. I kept looking at my cousins face who was smushed up against a sweaty guys back, and kept asking her if she was okay. She knew how much it meant to me to be in the front, so she kept saying she was fine. (The only concerts she's been to are the ones in huge venues, where she has really good SEATS, so you could only imagine how she was feeling.) We hadn't ate the whole day since we didn't want to lose our spot, so I was also scared that we were going to pass out because of that. There was a point where I honestly thought my ribs were going to collapse because of so much pressure. At that point, I looked at my cousin and I said, "I love Lupe, but we HAVE to get out of here or else we're gonna effing die." We waited 7 hours in the scorching sun with so many people's sweat dripping down our bodies, just to have to jump over the fence and go see Lupe's show on the side. It sucked big time, but we were so glad to actually breathe without difficulty.

We then waited about half an hour before Lupe came on. I know many people can relate to it, but for me, when Lupe hit the stage, I forgot about everything. I didn't care if I was on the side, I didn't care if I had to wait in that can of packed sardines. It was just Lupe and I. The vibes and energy that he puts out during EVERY SINGLE show is honestly mind blowing. I'm pretty sure he knew that most of the people there weren't there to see him, but did it affect his performance? It didn't seem like it AT ALL. Once they showed his shoes on the big screens, everyone went crazy. There were points where his all-white attire made him look like he was glowing in the sun. People were looking at my cousin and I like damn fools singing along to all of the words. If they only knew.

I posted what happened after his set a couple of entries
before this and Sean posted some pics of Lu's effing backflip!
=)

Anyway, I did manage to take some decent pics of Lu during his set..

Enjoy!

Lu's crowd..

It was absolutely insane that day,
but I wouldn'tchange that experience for the world!

Oh, and I'll be posting some pictures of Kanye later on today!

The end.

  3. ^^ yeah I was thinking the same thing...but if you look at the Complex cover..he wears the supra's on there...and the ones from Lolla look different..so i don't think those are Supra Sky Tops.

I'm still checking to find out more about those.
