This week's Genius Lu' comes straight out of
Ghetto Story (Steady Mobbin')...
"Individuals whose feelings is miniscule
Soon become criminals if you're dark-skinned,
And you was raised in a project apartment,
Public Aid made it that your father couldn't stay,
He had to part then, left with only a mother
The family structure suffers,
He will soon cling to hustlers, as his guardians,
He's still a boy, needs to fill a void,
Marchin' up the block up to no good, sellin' in the wrong hood,
He was taken down by a marksmen.
At his wake, 8th grade Graduation picture
Last words: 'Don't let your habitation get ya'..."
so many people can relate to this.
Oh woowww thats so beautiful... thats soooooo deep bro.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to this biiiig time! Great verse!!
Hey I need some help can you guys further elaborate and explain this verse for me it would be greatly appreciated!
"So through the Grim Reaper sickle sharpening
Macintosh marketing
Oil field augering
Brazilian adolescent disarmament
Israeli occupation
Islamic martyrdom, precise
Yeah, laser guided targeting
Oil for food, water, and terrorist organization harborin
Sand camouflage army men
CCF sponsorin, world conquerin, telephone monitorin
Louis Vuitton modelin, pornographic actress honorin
String theory ponderin, bullimic vomitin
Catholic priest fondlin, pre-emptive bombin and Osama and no bombin them
They breakin in my car again, deforestation and overloggin and
Hennessy and Hypnotic swallowin, hydroponic coughin and
All the world's ills, sittin on chrome 24-inch wheels, like that"
I have heard Lupe explain that verse before, but what he was trying to say is that with all the different ills and/or topics in the world hiphop/people just choose to talk about chrome wheels.
ReplyDeleteIn other words with all the serious things going on the world people are being blinded by a materialistic mentality.
steady mobbin' and hurt me Soul are dope songs and keep it 100% real. One thing i noticed though, that the lyrics to Stedy Mobbin are hard to read cuz it sound like it doeesn't rhyme, but on the song he has to chop up his words alot to make it sound good.
ReplyDeletethis was the first song i heard from lupe, and it hit me like damn this nigga is spittin the truth something that was missing from hip hop at the moment (2006, the infamous year hip hop was proclaimed dead) and ever since i then i check for new music from him. Feel in love with F&L. Now his my favorite by far in the game.
ReplyDeleteum...I don't know dude 2 posts up is talkin about, especially the first verse in Ghetto Story, all the ends of everything rhyme...
ReplyDeletedark skinned, apartment, part then, guardian, marchin, marksmen, partin, father, amen, harbinger, carpenter, marlins
BEST lupe song of all time...should stayed on F&L
"and through it all, I hope we learned more than, how to be whores and, how to move a ball"
not to mention
"eat kfc, drink come abort your child, buy nikes, which makes it highly unlikely that we gon fight g"
and the "thinking bout the black panthers and the babies that were born in the late eighties that now have babies that lack pampers, no kwanzaas, and they lack santas..."
SICKEST, REALEST Lupe song ever made
wow i heard that song many times
ReplyDeleteand i've never really noticed that last part^^
I will know this song by heart....I know it by saying it wit the song but not by heart. Top 3 in Lupe songs definitely...maybe favorite.
ReplyDeleteYes...this song is intense. I'm most likely gonna do this song again for Genius Lu's comin up..there's too many things that can't be passed up..as s-preme mentioned..(thank you). Of course, that happens with a lot of Lupe's songs. I appreciate all of your guy's feedback! & harrud's response to haqq was pretty much right on the money.
ReplyDeleteI never heard this song before so I looked it up and its fresh shit. even though its old shit lol. Reminds me of hurt me soul/he say she say
ReplyDeleteAfter every Genius Lu'...I go and listen to the actual track.
