Bishop aint no quitter, and neither is FNF, theres a reason behind Lu's retirement, and unless you know the music industry as much as me and him, then you would know the reasoning... but FNF isn't full of quitters...

ReplyDeleteNot to sound like im attacking you or anything, just to clear that up... but being in the music industry isnt as easy as it seems homie, its basically modern day slavery, the artists is constantly being told what to record and how to record it, the record labels OVERWORK you... then take 90-95% of all your profits from selling... you get a record advance that you have to pay back, meaning you get signed and already owe the label money... its not just a GET SIGNED then youre famous and living the life, its work and ALOT OF work, and you work as hard as you can... just to have the label take all your money away...

ReplyDeleteThe only reason I even commented on this post is because Im tired of everybody saying that they're retiring or slowing down. I know Lupe is tired of label politics. He's been saying that for a while now. The man does shows all year just to pay the bastards off (just a guess). But I read this post on the heels of reading another post that said Kanye is thinking about retiring now too, and I'm just getting fed up with all the quality artists stopping or slowing down. Why can't Lil Wayne slow down? Why can't Plies announce his retirement? But then again, it took God 7 days to make the earth, and it takes a woman 9 months to make a baby, but it only takes a minute to make garbage. With that said, I know Lupe can't stop rapping no more than Bishop can stop writing. They just need some time to make their masterpieces.
P.S. FUCK MAJOR LABELS! Their time is quickly coming to an end.
yeah I agree with you, but heres the thing, artists who retire today.. in my opinion are just trying to follow the trend Jay Z started because before him, I cant name 1 artist that "retired", everyone wants to retire now, but those that are "retiring" are in a different situation than Lu. Game for example is retiring because he wants to spend more time with his 2 sons and thats commendable, but he did state that he would potentially come back later, to me this is "taking a break" instead of "retiring". As for Wayne, he should NOT slow down, and he should not retire because then people would view him as a legend, and the Wayne stans will NEVER let us hear the end of it. Wayne is an idiot and if he keeps up his lifestyle, the syrup will do the job later (and this is a terrible thing to say, but I'm just keeping it real). As I said, retiring seems like a trend to me, because I have yet to see an artist retire, every artist that retired in the past, could NOT stay away from the mic. Hip Hop is not just a form of art, its a lifestyle, it exists from within, you cant abandon it, and I still believe that Lu wont retire, maybe take a LONG break, but not fully retire. As he said before, he wants to do more things like writing a book and putting out his artists.

ReplyDeleteKanye said he was gonna rap on the weekends...he never said he was retiring. AND he always said he'd be done after Good Ass Job, he said he had a 4 to 5 album plan. There's such a thing as too much of a good thing, too. Nas, Jay...the greats? 8+ albums and half are garbage. You can't just go forever. I'm also gettin sick of the level of hatred people on this site spew upon Lil Wayne. Sure he's overhyped, but cuz is far from whack. He's genuinely creative and artistic and when he's not actin' a fool he's talented, and he's garnered respect from WAY outside of a hip-hop fanbase, so let the nigga do him. As far as calling Bishop a "quiter", I'm not sure I get that comment. I'm not even gonna delve into that, BUT who from FNF is retiring? I don't see what you are referring to as Bishop and em..who is the 'em? As for Lupe, if he comes out with a full and original studio album after this I'd be shocked. People don't want to stay in this shit forever, and I'm utterly appalled that people hold it against their so called idols and favorites for wanting to be more than just a rapper. Kanye and even Lupe want to explore other creative avenues? What's wrong with that? That's amazing. I'd hold it against them if they didn't. You people want these people to stay and just go and go cuz you like them, but thats dull...imagine if only ONE painter painted and never stopped.
