How Chris Became A Lupe Fiasco Fan

I became a Lupe fan about 2 years ago when I was in JFK airport with my friend. We were on our way out to Colorado to get some snowboarding in. I consider myself to have some sense of fashion, but I'm not really into it. I couldn't even tell you anymore what I was wearing that day, but I had on a pair of Oakley snowboarding sunglasses that were fresh off the shelves.

I was in a market trying to find a mag to read on the plane when a guy next to me says, "Love those rims, where'd you get em?" I turn around and see this guy (I didn't know it was Lupe) and explain they were a gift and that Shaun White (actually met him on the trip later on) designed them. He says that he likes them and asks me where I'm heading and I tell him and he says "Oh, have fun" and goes on his way.

I turn to my friend and say "nice guy" and my friend looks starstruck. I ask him "What the heck are you looking like that for ?" and he goes "Dude that was Lupe f*cking Fiasco." I turn around and he's gone and I'm like "Are you sure?" And he's like "Yeah I'm serious, I can't believe you didn't get a pic of him." (still today one of my biggest regrets).

But the more I think about it the more I'm happy I wasn't one of "those fans" who freak out when they see someone famous and I played it cool. I like to think he appreciated being able to converse with me without the whole "OMG it's you! it's you!" thing going on. Anyways after that I became a fan of his.
