Actually designed dreams could be really cool....I'm thinking about a "The Jetsons" type of thing. Remember that? But yeah, the type of designed dreams Lupe talks about would suck.
I think this line directly relates to the book 1984 in response to the telescreens. In the book, everything broadcasting on them is "designed" by the higher ups, including fake news stories and all sorts of other stuff, and send out to the masses.

yeah, the whole song is based on it....would be a good concept for a whole album...
