here's what i said on my blog..."Ummm...I am disappointed by this. To me this track isn't terrible. It definitely isn't great. It's just there. The video is the same way. We've seen it all before. In what seems like a very intense case of deja vu, Eminem "breaks" back onto the hip hop scene. He comes at us with a goofy track as his lead single; the same formulaic approach he always uses. But in an ever changing, constantly evolving and creative (new class much?) game, is it enough to come with more of the same? I expected more from Em. To me, he's batting 0 for 2 (crack a bottle could have been dope). Hopefully this tomfoolery is not indicative of the album. Why do I need to see/hear Eminem with more of the same celebrity bashing? These people have nothing to do with Eminem, he's just talking to talk. Step, game, up sir."
sorry if that's long winded, but i'm MAD disappointed
Yeah, this single is pretty lame to me. If you can do the same, and get better at it, then cool. But I see no real difference in this and all the others. No progression.
Now, I do like "I'm Having a Relapse"... Whatever it was. That would be a nice single.
Em's radio hits / first singles have never been the best songs on his albums. From Eminem Show the two SMASHes were Without Me and Cleaning Out My Closet - Closet was probably the worst overall song on the album. Without me is still a classic though. Same with the Marshall Mathers LP, The Real Slim Shady was entertaining when it came out but the best songs on that album were the ones that didn't get much radio play. (Except Stan)
Encore as a whole was very dissapointing so we'll see what Relapse gives us.
i won't defend the song...but i will defend his lyrics as fire...
because they are still 10 levels above 80-90% of whats out right now...
and with that being said, why everybody so disappointed...its better then what i have come to expect out of em's singles (ie just lose it, shake that)
if anything this is closer to old eminem then having a relapse and crack a bottle was....and people been complaining they want the old em...so quit your belly aching
if he drops the accent, he's all set...relapse will have atleast 8 amazing tracks on it...i'll bet my bottom dollar on that...
i would have to disagree with "ezwelchman", because rap pool is actually becoming more talented in the past year minus the club and dance music. and i've a ton of songs from new artist lately that lyrically, beat wise, and overall better than this. Em is on a rollercoaster of music and it just so happens that its a simple up and down ride, and his defintely continuing on tht down drop. bad thing is this doesnt surprise anyone.
The fact that people are already writing off Em one day after We Made You is ridiculous. Besides the fact that the beat is amazing in itself (the song kinda got me more excited for Detox after hearing it) and yeah Em is using that annoying Encore-ish accent again but where the fuck does it say that Relapse is going to be all like that?
Bottom line is that it's just insane to say Em is done after his first single in 5 years. Not only is it just one song, this is fucking Eminem we're talking about and I can't wait for Relapse.
It's a typical first single from Eminem and I have no complaints. The beat is amazing regardless, and Relapse will be amazing as well.
ReplyDeleteI honestly never wanna hear this song again... lmao...
ReplyDeletevideo is kinda funny tho
Strike 2 em, Strike 2.

If anyone defends this song as "good" or "fire", you practically have no right to criticize any other rapper.
ReplyDeleteWith that said, he's 0 for 2 so far.
well in response to dude above me...

ReplyDeleteim honestly more interested in hearing Asher Roth's album now, than Em's.
