left out the autotune verse obviously, wonder why
ReplyDeletecuz he always leaves out verses in concert?
ReplyDeleteyou can tell that the chorus is different to the leaked version. ish
ReplyDeletewell yes autotune does suck, but he is taking a shot at people who use it in the song, he isn't using to try to be cool...
ReplyDelete@lm_wfc
ReplyDeletelool, that's cuz the guy who was recording thought it would be nice to sing along... man he had a bad voice...
i was thinking about whether lu would change the autotune thing-due to jay and all-w/e we'll see
ReplyDeleteok there's a guy in the background that is in a black shirt with a toewl over his head (in swang on em). the guy standing to his right looks like the rapper in Hip Hop Saved My Life video.
ReplyDeleteim obviously on my own here, but i like the autotune part. i sometimes have the urge to sing along. but i dont.
ReplyDeletehes making a point about it anyway
With all due to respect, Fuck Jayz! I like the way Lupe used the autotune on Shining ! Dont get me wrong, I love Jay! ( I have seen the dude twice in concert)....But I am tired of him trying to control Hip-Hop into being what he wants it to be. He could have said Death of Materialism, Death of Exploiting Women , Death of Braging about selling dope or Death of violence...But naw he mad at autotune? WTF has autotune done? Nothin negative! How can someone who stated "you cant knock the hustle" suddently try to knock the hustle of others who using autotune? Jay is just bored with his life (not even Beyonce or Forbes gives him satisifaction)...that is why he still tryin to rap even when he stated like in '06 that he was going to retire and never come back. He's a contol freak. Screw all that 30 is the new 20. 30 is still the same old 30. He needs to get over himself and allow the 20- some thing year olds get into the game. Hip-Hop is about the youth!
ReplyDelete**Sorry about the rant but this autotune debate is annoying and no one was mad about it until Jayz said something. This cult ish need to stop!
lool, that's cuz the guy who was recording thought it would be nice to sing along... man he had a bad voice...
ReplyDelete^^^^^
LOL that's my homey Steven... he's gonna be hurt by that comment.
i hated autotune way before jay z said anything about it. i guess its not necessarily the autotune itself i dont like, its the shitty rhymes and lines that usually accompany the autotune that kills me, plus its just not pure like the rap music i know and love.
ReplyDeleteThere's a slight difference in the first two lines of the chorus from this to the leaked version. Personally I think this one sounds significantly better.
ReplyDeletethat was pretty cool, but way too many people on stage. someone call the fire department.
ReplyDeletehey chris S, the guy wearing the black shirt in the background would be Bun B who happens to be a hip hop legend so it would be cool if you actually knew him by his name...
ReplyDeleteWhere can I buy that We Are Lasers shirt?!
ReplyDeletegoddamn lupe freaking KILLS it swang on em, from verse to flow.
ReplyDeletedude ranting about jay-z: seriously? youre serioulsy angry at jay-z trying to bring actual substance back into hip-hop? 'hustlin' with auto-tune? That's the same defense jim jones used when he went after jay's DOA. rap is just about money now?
I guess im just wondering how you gonna get mad at jay for speaking out against what rap has become? that just seems silly. (apologize for the rant too, ain't taking shots either. just commenting)
man..i've only heard like the first 40 seconds of shining down.waiting for the finished thing.
ReplyDeletebut from what i've read around,Lu was actually shooting auto tune down...idk whether that's right or not but it's what a lot of people have said.so im thinking it went over some peoples heads when i read the comments on here about the auto tune.
"LOL that's my homey Steven... he's gonna be hurt by that comment."
ReplyDelete@Tayo
lool, sorry but the truth kinda hurts sometimes so take it with a smile and get him some singing lessons =)
looks like trilly and trully is getting a we are lasers shirt...im on it
ReplyDeletea) he left the verse out because the setup in there is intimate small club type, and he/the venue probably doesn't have the equipment to run autotune live
ReplyDeleteb) FUCK JAY-Z. You can't say DOA but shout Wayne out on the song and put Drake on your first single. Also, your homie who produced half of bp3 made 808s and heartbreaks?? Nigga Please. and Jay didn't bring "lyrical substance". That's illogical. Lyrical substance never left. You can disagree with autotune if you want, but you can't just say autotune sucks. ALL OF YOUR FAVORITE SINGERS USE EITHER AUTOTUNE OR MELODYNE ANYWAY. THE WAY ITS USED CURENTLY IS JUST A TREND/FAD BUT AUTOTUNE HAS BEEN USED HEAVILY IN MUSIC FOR THE LAST 13 YEARS
whats the release date for the album?!
ReplyDeleteI'm not angry at Jay. Just disappointed at him! (There is a difference). And while I hate to say this, but Jim Jones had a point. Lupe said it best about this elitism in Hip-Hop! Its disgusting. While I know Lu wouldnt publicly say something about Jay's DOA comment since that is his mentor and Jay has the power to make or brake some one's career....There is nothing really wrong with autotune! His reasoning for it to end is irrational! He act as if he cares about the 'culture', like he some conscious rapper now! NEGRO please!"Truthfuly, I really want to rhyme like Common Sense, but when I sold that 5 mill...I havent been Common Since" I see through you like you bathe in Windex,lol...And for the record, this Anonymous user is a chica! Yes, there are girls who
ReplyDeleteknow a thing or two about Hip-Hop:)
The Japanese probably already have that We Are Lasers shirt... Lu spoils them. lol
ReplyDeleteI also agree with Anonymous' little rant though, Jay-Z should use his influence on the game to address more critical issues, not "autotune".
But the main guy in the video is also up on scene, to lupes left, in a white tee
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone actually listen to Lupe's lyrics. Auto tune is used to get your attention and then he completely trashes the idea of it. Talking about the fat lady signing, circle movement (no progress) and then at the end he says "well, im not havin it".
ReplyDeleteThis is basically a DOA verse that was leaked before DOA.
