HEY LUPE YOU MIGHT WANT TO READ THIS BLOG ENTRY WHICH WAS WRITTEN BY K1NG ELJAY BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF YOUR "FANS" ACTUALLY FEEL THE SAME WAY

I previously deleted this entry for a reason but it seems like a lot of our readers weren't happy about that...so you can check out what K1ng Eljay wrote...or just don't. I don't agree with most of it...but...whatever...

  1. ...i'm sory...i can't resist this shit...

that is some bullshit. i literally can't even argue with that post because it didn't make any sense. It contradicted itself 3 times.

Lupe fans need to get over that shit. Its JUST a mixtape. Its JUST music.

While the fact that his friend found a song that could keep him in a good zone is perfectly valid...it is in the end JUST music. There is no subliminal hypnotic message in it that made things mystically better.

NOONE owes you people music. If this nigga quit right now, you'd all get over it. Like, I am really hesitant to snap at shit, but you're all acting as if this is Jesus Christ and he just broke his promise to come back for you guys. Suddenly you woke up mixtapeless and realized that heaven isn't real and we're stuck on Earth for eternity. Seriously...it is a song. Probably 21 minutes worth of songs. Is it really worth it to annoy, bother and offend your "favorite" artist?

    Damn...
i'm literally still shaking my head

  2. I agree with the post... for some music is more than music but their entire lives... but i think lupe was just calling out those people who commented and showed their disappointment in some very strong words... he probably felt the people that are on this blog actively represent the type of audience his music caters to... all things aside, i know i owe lupe a lot for the music he has put out, and i look forward to hearing more inspiring and life-changing music he has to offer in the coming future!!!

  3. forgot to say...

even though I'm sure his music has a profound impact on many people's lives...Lupe does not owe you that, and it is completely unfair to pin that type of responsibility on an artist. If that were the case, he'd have to be on call 24/7 for someone..."Lu, I'm lonely can I get a new song?" "Lu, I'm unsure of my future can you make me a mixtape?"

Let musicians make their music and THEN you find your solace in it. Don't seek that solace from their hand...it's way too much to ask of someone to be humanity's personal savior.

  4. Point out the contradictions, S-Preme. If you can point them out, go ahead. I'm interested to see what you mean.

Yo, everybody's entitled to their opinion, but if you've never been in that situation of music being more than music, I can't really explain it to you.

So...You are completely right when you say music is JUST music. If that's what you think, then that's your reality.

But...For some people...me included... it's more than that. So maybe that's how YOU feel, but that might not represent how everyone feels as a whole.

And I'm Not saying Lupe was going to drop groundbreaking stuff or anything like that. That wasn't the point of the post, lol. The issue was with the "catching feelings" part of it.

But it is what it is, man.

  5. HOWEVER...

"Let musicians make their music and THEN you find your solace in it. Don't seek that solace from their hand...it's way too much to ask of someone to be humanity's personal savior."

If that ain't the realest thing I've heard today, I don't know what is.

  6. lol what if lupes jus messin with us and will actually release it on christmas(or later?), i mean it wouldnt be the first time he lied to us(he said matthew santos wouldnt be at the remember2smile concert, yet he showed up). I mean he already released a verse from FOTP, and said hes always in the studio. He could possibly be takin us on a emotional rollercoaster.....could he??

  7. Spreme^^^I see what you're saying. But at the same time you cannot say it's just music.

Just like Lu has said before "Hiphop/music is what you make it. It can be used to kill, fornicated, teach, heal, even save lives..." Lu has also recently talked about Hiphop having to accept some of the blame over inner city crime/violence/murders.

In fact if it was "just music" may be Lu would be even part of the crew of "influencers" climbing the Kilimanjaro mountain in the first place.

The fans too have to realize that the world is actually much bigger than just the mixtape/raps and that most of the prime beneficiaries of Lu's climb are people or souls that have actually never heard of Lupe Fiasco.
So this is a case of Lu actually putting the more disadvantaged people of this world over his so called "fans"

However, all the fans are asking for is just more clarity and honesty in the first place...

    ReplyDelete
  8. no K1ngEljay - it wasn't the way you wrote it that contradicted itself. It's the entire situation, and I was including the comments. You already know I think you're a dope blogger/etc. The contradictions arise when saying music is just music and also more. And also in saying he can do what he wants but at the same time should take individual fans' perceptions into account. Also juxtaposing him "not recognizing" a high demand for his music next to his comments in return to people straight swearing and calling him a liar to me does not even call his intelligence into question. The shit I'm saying I can't argue with is the WHOLE thing. This post just amalgamated the entire issue, its the issue I can't argue with.

And OF COURSE music is more than just music to me. I can name probably 1000 songs that have gotten me through things whether lyrically, melodically or otherwise.

My issue arises when people take it past the music and to the artist. When I say its JUST music I mean just that. It is the MUSIC that is helping you. Lupe isn't sitting next to these people comforting them.

  9. matt wasn't going to be at the chicago show...it was a last minute thing, just like Stones the year before that

  11. it IS just music. How an INDIVIDUAL accepts and internalizes it is unique to them, but at the end of the day it is only music. It in and of itself is ONLY a song. Paintings are paintings. Movies are movies. We can interpret them and love them and internalize their messages, but THEY are only inanimate bodies of work. They live in their own 3 minute and 25 second world. WE BRING THEM INTO OURS. The artist doesn't do that. In fact, if an artist sets out to make a song that we do that with, he fails to me. I can only say that so many different ways. Let the music do what it does but let IT do it, do not ask it of the creator.

Hip hop need not take ANY blame for inner city crime. I'm sorry but just like any art form, hip hop REFLECTS where and who it comes from. I'd say that there are 123.72 things to blame for violence in the hood before hip hop. The same nigga rappin' about a crack would be baggin it up if he wasn't a rapper. The hood had violence LONG before hip hop. I really don't even want to get into that argument. It's JUST entertainment after all.

  12. I usually dont post here and am not obsessed with Lupe like most of you are... but I got some shit to say on the manner. Lupe, for the most part, dicks around his fans. Delays, cancellations, flat out lies... its getting ridiculous. We've been promised albums, singles, music videos, and even fucking comic books that have never seen the light of day. I understand that your record label may have much to do with this... but you gotta stop making these promises until you are 100% sure it's happening. He's pissed off that hes not on the MTV hot 10 list? Maybe because you haven't had any fucking music out in years. The "hot" (although mostly inferior) rappers today provide their fans with more and more material. Lupe finally shocks the world and puts out a mixtape that for the most part shows off how he's one of the best in the game. The only complaint that most people had was that it was way too short. Fans would quickly defend this by saying "LOL ITS ONLY PART 1 WE GOT PART 2 COMING CHRISTMAS." Then low and behold you cancel part 2 because of some mountain climbing adventure that you've known about for the past couple of months. You involve yourself in one fiasco after another. (ATCQ or some stupid post on Okayplayer) You promise material while providing a general date which gets pushed back and back and sometimes flat out cancelled. You actually have the nerve to get pissed when these anxious fans download your leaked single? I also really despise this cocky attitude that I've read in some of your posts basically stating that your fans should be grateful to you for making this music. You should be grateful to us for making you millions of dollars and not having to work a real fucking job. For such an intelligent artist, you have a lot of growing up to do. I think you're an amazing artist and I've supported you before even Food & Liquor. I've gotten atleast 20 people onto your music and atleast 10 of them have actually bought your albums. I've seen you in concert and bought both of your albums and many of your singles. Do I look forward to new music? Yes. Will I support you by buying it? I'm not sure anymore.

and no.. I'm not catching emotions.. I'm just stating what I see.

now cue the hardcore lupe knights to completely tear apart this post and refresh this page every minute until he puts out new music.

  13. Ok, I dig that S-Preme. I understand that completely. That makes perfect sense.

  14. soooo i dont understand why this guy making an extreme reach in this article is a big deal. and if what this guy is right with lupe's civic and moral duty to people who love his craft; then every artist who EVER pushed back an album or a mixtape should be crucified right?....... or everytime a major artist doesnt deliver on something he promised we should hang a couple suicides over there heads huh?..... Im a huge lu fan trust i was disappointed when i saw it wasnt comin out christmas .... but people take it to far.... much love lu..... sean you were right the first time to take this shit off the blog

    ReplyDelete
  15. I dont think it's too much to ask for Lupe to live up to his word. There are some of us fans who arent angry at lupe, just disappointed because we are such huge fans.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lol I hope Sean didn´t post this again because of my latest comment in the shoutbox. Lol, whatever...

Well, I agree with Eljay. However, I don´t think Lupe should be treated like; "OMG, he said it´s just music!, burn him!". Eljay in a sense, said something this. I guess he did take things out of proportions, because Lupe just mentioned those things; answering the annoying ranting from some crazy "fans", I mean its just a mixtape... However, I do believe Lupe shouldn´t have said that in the first place, because that only means he actually believes its just music.

Its like saying, that Da Vinci thought that his paintings were just paper with colored figures on it. Well, actually they are, but are these painting only paper with colored figures to Da Vinci? Then why would I try to follow Da Vinci´s steps, if I, the follower, don´t consider the paintings as such?

S-Preme. I agree with you. However, you have to understand Lupe is not seen as a rapper anymore, he´s actually seen as the "savior". Even though he doesn't want to be considered one, people perceive him as one, simply because he´s intelligent and different from the rest. And also, is its because of his audience too. They are intelligent. Since when people make such a BIG deal over a rapper´s mixtape? Well, I guess to them is much more than that, I sincerely don´t know. And I say "them", because I don´t identify myself with all the mixtape crap. He has to train, it is absolutely understandable, and I am willing to wait as long as its needed.

Now, if you notice, no one (or at least here in the blog) is trying to pin that responsibility to him, maybe Eljay does, maybe a few do, I don´t know... But this stopped being a problem about the mixtape cancellation. Now its more of a problem about how an artist truly perceives its art.

I would like to know from Lupe himself, if he truly believes this is just music, putting the mixtape bullshit aside... is this really just a beat with you rhyming on it, Lupe? Or do you consider it more? I as a fan, would like to know.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Ya I understand being disappointed. But not WITH him. I wanted to hear the shit too, but I can't go and start questioning his character because of it.

    ReplyDelete
  18. @Lawfer: A "savior"??

You're taking it a bit too far...that's some crazy cult shit...

    ReplyDelete
  19. @Lawfer

no. I am not saying the art isn't MORE than what it is TO the artist. Of course it is. Of course Picasso paints what's in HIS soul. But the resulted product IS ONLY a physical product. What you take from it is what YOU take from it. You could take the same thing from ANOTHER nigga's painting. My whole point is that once it leave's Lu's soul (pardon the hyperbole) it is only a song until you internalize it. YOU make it what it is to you.

But by seeing him as a "savior" you are pinning a stupendously silly responsibility on him. For one, hip hop does not need a "savior". And if it did, to expect one man to be that is absurd. Intelligent people listen to more than just Lupe Fiasco. Hiphop is not the end all be all. Neither is Lupe.

Amazing MC. Amazing talent. Great person. Funny. Silly. Smart.

Yes to all of these. Savior? Hell No.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Sean, what are you talking about??? Lol.

Savior, as in, Hip-Hop savior... That´s why I mentioned he is different from the rest. Rest, as in, the rest of the rappers...

    ReplyDelete
  21. I never said, I consider him the savior. I said that people perceive him as one, because he´s completely different from the rest.

I agree with you. However, this is about Lupe´s perspective of his music. He said this is just music. All I´m doing here, is trying to find out if this is just that for him.

    ReplyDelete
  22. ^^ see that's the thing.. he didn't actually say "It's just music"

..that's what someone made out of his comment...

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wow this has gone too far, people take things way too seriously, Savior?? That would mean people were idolizing him as some god, He's great, one of the best doesn't mean you should be on his ass about his music and when he should release it. I wouldn't mind if Lu doesn't release anything for another two years, their are other artists, and i can listen to his older music. Let the man live his life, and for someone to hold a single person on such high expectations is stupid, He's human like us. Lupe you do what you gotta do.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm a pretty big lupe fan but, I think that anyone who has heard any of Lupe's previous mixtapes would agree that his last one was kind of a disappointment. Lupe is a great rapper but hes really showing a lack of effort with the music he puts out.

As far as the comment about paying for his mixtapes thats just silly. People might not even pay for your album...especially in a recession. No one has to pay for any type of music at this point the only reason why any artist sells cds is because people want to show support.

Lupe don't piss off your core fanbase. They are the ones who will actually buy a copy of your cd, maybe 2.

    ReplyDelete
  25. ^^ lyrically this mixtape is on a whole nother level.. you don't know what you're talking about.

  28. you guys have to calm down. The water crisis >>>>>>>>>>>> a 20 minute long mixtape.

He already said the album will come out soon next year and a lot of music will be out. You know you can listen to other artists too right ?

  29. You'd think some people would be over it now lol.... I dont really care that we dont get another mixtape but this crap has been happening since like... well a year ago... Im just hoping lasers is bloody good

    ReplyDelete
  30. I love Lupe, i really do, he's my favorite artist since 2-3 years and he will be for a lot of years..

BUT he has to think twice before talking :s
First he announces in The Cool that there will be only one album left named LupE.N.D.. As if it is possible to plan such a thing before he even released his second one.
Fortunately he changes his mind, and said that three albums are on their way.. same thing! Lupe is your 10 next years already planned????
With the cancel of the december 25th mixtape u prove that u can even plan your next week..

So please, do what you have to do but make an announcement when you're sure at 100%.

Much luv' to you (Lupe and all his fans) from Paris !!

PS: Excuse my english, i'm still learning ^^

    ReplyDelete
  31. HHHHhmmmmmmmm, how do I start. First let me point out what was said in chronological order.

"As the time got nearer, people started to talk about it more, and the buzz actually spread thanks to the last mixtape and the Santa vs. Blitzen commercials.
"RESPONSE"= Lupe was not getting buzz for his mixtape based on the Blitzen commericals. The commericals came out after he canceled his mixtape.

" Lupe would always say he was in the studio recording via Twitter, and etc, etc. so I don’t think he cancelled it because it wasn’t done."
RESPONSE= He could be in the studio for L.A.S.E.R.S or for collabos for other artist projects. We really dont know what he was in the studio for or how many songs he made within his studio time. Honestly, I wouldnt want to calculate...that is too obessive. Dont you people like a little mystery? BTW, How is he obligated to be in the studio for just a mixtape? Why would he basically give away L.A.S.E.R.S. music for a mixtape.

"Enough to summon Lupe away from his “super-busy schedule of training” to post"
RESPONSE= It's not like he typed book report of a response like many of us are doing. And even if he did...it doesnt take much time to respond (well, for some of us maybe not).

"Sure the mountain is important, but he supposedly knew about it way ahead of time."
RESPONSE= Sure, he knew about the mountain... I don't think any non-mountain climber can calculate how much time to invest in climbing a mountain...I am sure most if not all of the contestants have dropped everything to train for this mountain... That is a serious thing (19,000 feet)....the altitude changes and everything. Severe advance training is needed beyond the basic training. I dont get why that needs to be debated...its a mountain. You try schedule time to climb a mountain and see how your schedule will change!

"For some people, music is just music. For others..."
RESPONSE: I am sure every Lu fan on here can state a story on how a Lupe song or songs changed/saved their life in some kind of way. But who is to say that the mixtape would have saved someone's life? Did Enemy of the State save a life? Does it mean that Lupe now has full custody of lives now? Now, I see why many of yah are upset...because it seems as if yah are holding Lu responsible for bringing light to your life. Man/Woman will always disappoint you, thats just the way it is...but GOD never fails. I hate to get all preachy on yah, but yah really holding Lu in that GODLY light and that is not healthy...Doing that, you will always be dissappointed. You can try to move on to another artist if you want but the same thing will occur...you will be dissappointed.

Another thing, how are you going to quote Eminem to justify how wrong Lu is when Eminem's Relapse was Em's first album in like 4-5 years?

***Side bar: I honestly do not understand why yah tripping over a mixtape...An album, possibly...but a mixtape? Get over yourself! I would rather Lu cancel a mixtape than him canceling his rap career all together...that should ring bell to some. I mean a year from now, most of us were 'crying' about how we didnt want Lu to retire....He didn't follow that promise which he was soo adamant about. You should be grateful. And honestly, it is this lil bull shit right with fans bitching over something so tedious is what annoys the hell out of an artist....Dont enslave Lu to his own art! That defeats the entire purpose of art...the moment he feels this...his music will either fizzle or he'll officially retire overall. Think about it and allow it to marinate a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  32. His mixtape got canceled, it's not the end of the world. You should probably understand that your lives and wants do not come above anybody elses, and I think it's pretty fair that after a worldwide tour and before a mountain climb, he should get a break, rather than pushing out material just to appease his "core fanbase". I love his music, he's influenced me more than any other artist, but I really think we should let him have a break. It's freakin' christmas.

  35. READ THIS PART OF THE ARTICLE, THIS IS WHY LUPE'S FUCKING UP:

That morning I woke up to a text message from him: “Intruder Alert.” I ask him what that meant, and he responded almost instantly: “I can relate to that. It made me stop…” And the rest of the day, we texted back and forth, and thanks to that Lupe song, my friend’s still alive, as far as I know. I haven’t talked to him in a few months, but I hear he’s married now.

He was alive long enough to find him someone who understands him and could keep him sane, thanks to a random song he had forgot he had on his iPod…by this guy here who says people are catching feelings over music.

My bottom line is this: for some people, it’s just music. For others, it’s their life. And for a few…it’s their LIFELINE. So do some people catch feelings over music? Should they? Seriously, Lupe? I honestly can’t believe that’s a legitimate question…

I don’t know how else to say it. Eminem states it pretty well too:

“That’s why we sing for these kids, who don’t have a thing
Except for a dream, and a f—in’ rap magazine
Who post pin-up pictures on their walls all day long
Idolize they favorite rappers and know all their songs
Or for anyone who’s ever been through s–t in their lives
Till they sit and they cry at night wishin’ they’d die
Till they throw on a rap record and they sit, and they vibe
We’re nothin’ to you but we’re the f—-n’ s–t in their eyes
That’s why we seize the moment try to freeze it and own it, squeeze it and
    hold it
Cause we consider these minutes golden…”

Eminem – “Sing For The Moment”

That’s maybe some of the realest lyrics an artist could say. Hopefully that would hit home with him one day.

Good luck on your training, Lupe. All disappointment aside. Seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  36. s-preme really hit the nail on the head with that one.

i remember lupe saying he didn't want to release a mixtape again...we're pretty lucky that he actually made another one for us.
i understand how people feel but you can't guilt trip him...he's doing the best he can for us.

    ReplyDelete
  37. wow so now even comments get deleted? Scared lupe migh scold adn yell at you sean huh?

    ReplyDelete
  38. S-Preme or SeanTheRobot: I'd like to hear your thoughts specifically about lupe's response in the comments section. To me I was pretty shocked that he showed so much frustration/anger. Based on what I've seen from him he seems to have a better understanding of people than that.

I was shocked because you would think he would of expected some people to be extremely disappointed because to some the music means SOOO much. Yes, it's not his responsibility to uphold that but I'm sure he knows that his music really touches souls. So with that understanding one would expect that people will be very dissappointed when they don't get it and will express that disappointment in various ways. Sure attacking Lupe is not a healthy way to express your disappointment but I was surprised when he came back with the same kind of energy because I've never seen him respond on that level.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think if someone is attacked enough times, regardless of their self control , they'll snap back. I think it was necessary for Lu to respond harshly because the level of the insults was such that it needed to be brought to those slinging them (certainly not everyone) that they crossed a line and responded inappropriately.

Dude is human, and if u talk certain ways to people, they'll react strongly.

    ReplyDelete
  40. ^mr tompson: they not gonna give you a unbiased comment. Lupe can yell at them and they will call out their mothers before they call out lupe. They have no real opinon. Its a shame lupe has his own fans scared of him. smh.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Look how quickly sean is trying to put this post to the bottem of the page by all of a sudden filling up the page with news. Hes scared lupe might read this and diapprove sean as being a "real fan". But lupe can't be mad because sean is just the messenger. Why should you feel bad about reporting the message? Stop with the nonsense. People have a right to complain about lupe not giving music because wat else does he give us? Money? No we give him that, so the least he can do is keep his fuckin word. And deleting this post just proves i'm right.

    ReplyDelete
  42. lol they PUSHED this post down, lololol

    ReplyDelete
  43. ^yea they did, you see what i'm talking about right. Stop being scared sean the robot its your blog you actually helped lupe gained new fans. So who cares if he gets upset you doing ya job

    ReplyDelete
  44. ^ job? This is not my job...I'm not getting paid for it...

Interesting how all of a sudden people come out of their holes that I've never seen commenting on here and have an opinion about how I run this blog...u didn't complain before...

What's the big deal anyways...if I'd be upset about Lupe not releasing the mixtape then I'd have said it...there's a reason why I'm not upset...but that's actually none of ur business.

    ReplyDelete
  45. @ jessica i won't give a real comment? Lupe will yell at me? are you serious? I'm not even part of this blog... What the fuck are you talking about? I'm pretty sure I'm one of the most opinionated people on earth and if i wanna say something I will. you lose for making retarded assumptions without thinking.

and how exactly would lupe yell at or punish sean? your comment isn't even rational...

    smh...

    ReplyDelete
  46. @spreme. lol I'm not saying hes gonna actually yell or punish him sweetie, but I could tell that hes scared to offend lupe, I mean just look at how he presented the post, you could tell he was probably shaking at his keyboard because he was scared lupe was gonna disapprove him for posting the entry. And like that poster hamlet said, he pushed this entry all the way down on the page as if hes trying to hide it lol. But why I'm really mad is because you guys act like his fans can't get mad at lupe for not keeping his word, he does it all the time honey and i guess we just got sick of it because what else do we get from lupe? we give him our money, well I know I do so he could at least repay his fans back by keeping his word.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Look at us.....I think im more disappointed in the fallout of this whole situation rather than the fact the mixtape, or whatever other material previously anticipated, even got cancelled. Most of us visit this blog on a daily basis as fans of Lupe, in an attempt to stay current with his music, climb, and other endeavors.... and I stress the word FANS. Now, regardless of how important or significant this last "disappointment" has been to each and everyone of us, look what it has done: turned some of the supposed truest fans against each other. It seems as though this whole situation has resulted from a culmination of misplaced anger, disappointment, and frustation and everyone is just trying to place the blame on one person and it's tearing the fanbase apart. Ultimately, the only people who have any say in what material is released is Lupe and Atlantic, and from what I gather, most of that power lies in the hands of the record company. Lupe has expressed his frustration with this fact countless times before, we all know that. While this unfortunately deprives us, the FANS, of what we all know is spectacular music, we must move past it. I am certainly not happy with it, as obviously the rest of the fanbase. Let's just try to remember the whole reason we are here in the first place. We all share a collective interest in Lupe and turning on him or each other, to put it bluntly, is just ignorant.

For now, I'm patiently, yet anxiously looking forward to whatever material will come in the new year. I'm sure it will be well worth the wait.

    ReplyDelete
  48. @Jessica Yeah...actually, I'm still shaking...and I didn't push the entry down...that's what happens automatically when u update the blog...

How long are we gonna argue about this? It's not gonna change anything...

    ReplyDelete
  49. i have no say in the matter and probably wasted the last 15 min. of my life skimming these ridiculous posts, but guys it's a mixtape

im sure we've all got more important things to do than argue about a man and what he decides to do in his free time...and yes it's free time.

Looking at hip-hop , the norm is mixtapes when your not doing albums, but who wants the presuure of doing a mixtapes when one hiccup happens and it seems like the "fans" you had turn on you.
idk about you, but i wouldn't want to do them if this is what happens

i mean it's like peoples lives are revolving around one man...how would it feel if you had hundreds* of people criticizing, and breathing down your back every time they hear something as trivial as a mixtape.

he's got others, listen to them, the new one came out a month ago and im still finding shit out

just be happy and listen to some bob marley or something

  50. I think it's the Illuminati forcing Lupe to cancel this tape! LMAO. The tape was canceled... disappointment happens. You'll get over it (that's what mama used to say) lol

  51. And I thought you guys were mature. Cursing at women for nothing?...SMH

    And Sean... *sigh*...

Well, fans do have the right to be mad. What they don´t have the right is to treat Lupe like shit, just for canceling the mixtape. I mean, its just a mixtape...

Also, Lupe shouldn't be surprised nor mad that people are overreacting because he canceled. I mean, its being 2 years without material, a supposed retirement, an album that has had like 5 name changes; the same album that got pushed back the same amount of times it got a name change. A single, that was later changed as a street single just because it didn't sell. Another single, Army Girl that was supposed to drop in 4th Quarter, and we are days away from 2010 and still nothing. A very much anticipated mixtape, that while it was in all its glory a lyrical monster, just had like 6 new songs(which was on purpose?). Another mixtape scheduled in a month, then canceled, then the now Lasers got pushed back, from a possible Dec. 15 release, to a maybe late February, or early March release date. Hell, people in Facebook still think the now Lasers, is called Great American Rap Album, seriously?

And the funny thing is, that its not Lupe´s fault. However, the disappointment and anger goes directly to Lupe. That is UNFAIR. However, can you really blame a bandwagon fan that doesn't know this is really Atlantic´s fault? That is where Lupe´s response came wrong. He should have known this. Heck, he shouldn't even be commenting. But the fact he does, just shows how down to earth he is, and how much he actually cares about his true fans.

But that´s exactly when Eljay´s article made me think, what if this is just music to him? I mean I´ve read/heard/saw somewhere, where Lupe said he actually enjoyed Rock, more than Hip-Hop. I as a fan, really want to know what is Hip-Hop for Lupe Fiasco. The mixtape, the Albums, the dates, that´s all nonsense to me. I´ll wait as long as its needed, but as real fan, I felt the necessity to figure out, what is it the music I love, for the person who creates it?...

At the end, Wasalu, its all love . You should have seen how that Blitzen commercial eased up (or made forget) the pain/disappointment most felt from the mixtape cancellation. Translation : At the end, we just want some Lupe!

  52. the REALEST comment on the entire post, is the one above mine....

anyway just leave lupe, he's gonna give us more music next year :P

  53. LOL @ the people sayin Sean is scared of Lu. and LMFAO @Mr. Genius; i knew it too!! They're always behind stuff like this!! I think everyone needs to chill. i'm just gonna reiterate some of the better points a bunch of these people made: it's JUST a mixtape. it IS just music, but people do have a right to interpret it to make it their own and help them thru whatever troubles it may be. HOWEVER, this fact doesn't put an obligation upon the artist (in this case, Lupe) to give them music. it is his talent, his hobby, his life to create this music. and to the one guy that said Lu doesn't have a real job or w/e it was: u think Lupe couldn't have found a real job if he wasn't a rapper? really? but anyways...and to the person that said bandwagon fans don't know the label is pushing Lu's stuff back: it's not about being a bandwagon fan. If u had any knowledge about the industry, u'd know the label is usually responsible for push back and things of that sort. Lu was in the studio to record his FOURTH album (and possibly do a final mix of Lasers, altho he has said numerous times that Lasers is done).

    BUT, i digress...

I honestly thought it was a great article, so shouts to King Eljay. This doesn't necessarily mean i agree with it 100% tho. I thought Lupe should've never made those comments, but I feel that it was completely warranted. How would u have responded if ur so called fans turned 180 on u? And not just that, but started attacking u??

But, as someone said earlier, what's done is done. It's over. Get over it. No FOTP. A single's droppin soon, our present for the New Year. Lasers is droppin REAL soon. 4th album is comin in '10.

And if the cancellation of a freakin mixtape has got u lookin at Lupe in a bad way, find other artists. Clipse's album is great. Slaughterhouse = beast. Cudi, Wale, and B.o.B. either already have or are soon gonna have albums dropping. Bone Thugs are dropping soon. I know yall still bumping BP3 from Hov.

If none of that satisfies u, then it's only a mere three months or so til Lasers drops.

so PEACE! and much luv to ya. :)

(btw, i wasted like 30 min reading all the comments and posting this one haha. oh well...)

  54. ^Who do you think started all this big drama about the mixtape? go to the FOTP cancellation post and you will see it was all the bandwagon fans, that still think the album is called lupend lol

but i do agree with you tho. seantherobot, you should just block the ability to comment in this post, this is just useless. i think mr.genius, lawfer and chitownguevara, just proved whats really up.

  55. "“Oh please…stop whining…n-ggaz catching feelings over this? :/ mixtapes are easy…climbing a giant mountain is hard… just hope you don’t have to pay for the next one…if there is a next one… Thanx for the love..”"

IDK about you, but that's like, the most arrogant thing this dude ever said. First, he gonna be playing himself trying to get the rights to even use their material, and he's saying that like we're going to RUN to the stores and BUY a mixtape.

This dude thinks he's God or something. o_O

  56. It is just a mixtape, not an album but a mixtape. Some people need a hobby...

  59. the reason its easy to get upset about stuff like this is because lupe fans like myself just know that he can do so much better...

and we as supporters of his music would love to see him do better too and from where we sit it doesn't seem like it would be very hard at all for him to do so

i just try not to get my hopes up anymore because i trust and hope that lupe is doing what he can and that one day we'll have everything we could possibly ask from him

with that said he really should think things through a little more before he announces them...it just seems like he tries to do too much and loses focus...heres a quick list of promises we've heard

great american rap album (12 tracks?)
    lupend (triple disc?)
    CRS (lol...)
    lasers
book about window washers (i doubt this will ever happen but im hopeful)
    comic book about the cool
    musical/short film about the cool
music videos i cant name off the top of my head right now
    japanese cartoon

    and the list goes on...
