Most of you were asking for an in-depth review of Lupe's latest mixtape and Riva just came through with exactly that...an awesome review, capturing the essence of Lupe's "Enemy of the State: A Love Story."
I must admit, the mixtape is good, but nowhere near as good as Fahrenheit 1/15 part I, II or III. The replay value isn't as great - I've been bumping I, II and III constantly over the past few years - they're endless classics, but I can't see myself doing the same with VI. It seems a little generic.
ReplyDeleteThe beat selection was pretty poor if I'm honest. Also, I didn't like the fact that every single track (bar Angels) was over another artists beat. Of course, lyrically, it's up there with the rest, Lupe hasn't dumbmed down anything!
I'm hoping Friend of the People is better.
well DUHHH its a mixtape its gone to be over other people beats the only people that make mixtape that have orignal beats are artist that are/was tryna get in the game i.e drake,wale,mickey factz or artist that are indie and have albums that are just called mixtapes i.e u-n-i

ReplyDeleteDid EVRY single track on Fahrenheit 1/15 Part I and II have beats from other artists? No, therefore your point is invalid.
Also, you said "only artists that are trying to get in the game" have mixtapes with original beats - which is bullshit. It's just a new trend... just as DJ's shouting over mixtapes are going out of trend. It has nothing to do with being "new" to the game.
I didn't say that I wanted every track on the mixtape to have original beats, I just stated that I didn't like the fact that ALL of them were other artists beats (bar Angels).

First jay elect is nice. but nowhere as superb as Lupe but that doesnt matter cuz lupe has no intention of degrading him. or sending fire his way especially while he is giving out postive music. does anyone everything that some of the positive rappers are actually spitting negative messages using double entendres. only a few people have the question to this question but ill still ask. will friend of the people be orginal beats?? tying this in with the actual post..
