  4. Ya, I just saw it. It was awesome. A little to much New Moon for my taste, but I was loving the rock vibe. I think this is a great preview of Japanese Cartoon.

  8. Ooohh Relax...

Its songs like this on both my albums...

I'm super proud of it...First time I produced a whole song that was ever commercially released...

Its not going to make or break anything...

And honestly this is the music I have the most fun with...

If your looking for hip-hop's savior your looking at the wrong guy...No apologies either...

We Are Lasers pon de' way...

  9. ^ Lupe, please do a Broadway-style song next so you can be eligible for a Tony Award opportunity.

  10. Now thats the spirit...

Got tons of em on stand by...

I do make more than hip-hop people...

You should listen to more than hip-hop too...

Lotta good music in the world that doesn't involve two turntables and a mic...

    ReplyDelete
  11. lupe the best of your music is when you are having fun. it is definitely evident.

love the song, dig the video, thanks for everything man. cannot wait for LASERS.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Gotta love how people can't appreciate anything other than the same things they listen to every day.

More variety would definitely be sick to hear from you :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. People just dont appreciate versatility these days..

    ReplyDelete
  14. @Rhymestyle
versatility is great... as long as you don't suck at it.

word to corey taylor (slipknot + stone sour)

    ReplyDelete
  15. I love it.

Lupe, you are amazing. And I agree, there's more out there than just hip hop. Great song, great vid. :) Keep doing what you're doing. <3

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lu.. Love the song and the video.
I think this is the best arranged Music Video in his career so far.
The video treatment really points to the dopeness on the record.

    ReplyDelete
  17. If yall dont like this.. then listen to Enemy of the State... and you can also listen to Friend of the People on the 25th...

    Problem solved!

    ReplyDelete
  18. its just the fact that people seem to see artist as "rap artist, rock artist, punk artist" but they fail to realize that true artists are able to make different versatile music and still make it good.
another reason why lupe is the GOAT

    UPPPP

    ReplyDelete
  19. does anybody here listen to rock music outside of what Lupe makes?

seriously do it... you'll see why some of us are a little disappointed at this "rock" song while the rest of yous call it the GOAT.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Whoa whoa...lets chill on the "suck"....

Cuz I'll perform this bitch 9 times in a row at every show!!!

    Kidding...

I've given you well timed versatility throughout my career...thats what even got you knowing my name in the first place...

    Can't win em' all...

But I count this one as a win...

in the biggest film in the world = Win
got to have a ton of fun= Win
    Oscar eligibility = Win
    Dope ass video = Win

  21. Preach Lupe Preach!

I'd you don't like the song, then don't listen to it. That simple.

BTW, most of the people on facebook still think there is a Lupend coming, so who cares what the bandwagon fans think.

    ReplyDelete
  22. defffff agree with the guy on top of me

  23. in the biggest film in the world = Win

    ^ Yup

    ReplyDelete
  24. I like it, I'd love the song if there wasn't vocal effects.
Then it'd have been really good.

    ReplyDelete
  25. so lupe any "solar midnite" type songs gonna be on L.A.S.E.R.S?

    ReplyDelete
  26. my beef is not with lupe. of course i'm not gonna like 100% of what any artist makes... that's completely normal.

it's just with everybody on here calling this a "rock" song and the GOAT at that. *smh* go listen to the black album yall! (and no i'm not talking about jay-z)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Props to Lu. The true artist.
One thing, why is one 'Lupe' and the other 'lupe.' Hopefully no poser.

    ^I definitely agree.

***But I guess some Lupe "fans" NEVER THINK ITS MEAN ENOUGH***

    ReplyDelete
  29. thanks for popping in here Lupe, I think everyone really appreciates hearing from you.

While I respect versatility, the fact is that I like Lupe for his rapping. I think the way he does rap is better than anyone else. So while his rock songs are good, they aren't as exceptional for me as his rap. But that in no way means he shouldn't work on whatever projects he enjoys.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Nobody said that song was the GOAT... some people like it.. some people dont like it...

I have yet to see anyone say the song is the GOAT..

    ReplyDelete
  31. Everyone has their preferences. But to totally discount the song and say it sucks is stupid. It's obvious this is the JC of Lupe, so what is the big deal? No one is saying that you have to like it. But you are being totally ignorant if you think he doesn't come out of this looking dope. Dude has a chance to win an Oscar for fucks sake.

I don't think all Lupe songs are mega dope, IE Go Baby. But that doesn't mean I can't appreciate where it came from artistically.

Be happy for the guy, he is doing big things.

    ReplyDelete
  32. whats the skull n bones have to do with stickin it to the man?
maybe i'm just missing something here

    ReplyDelete
  33. Imagine Lupe performing this track at the Oscars...that would be epic!

    ReplyDelete
  34. LOL datkid, good lookin on that one. Just noticed that as well.

As Lupe says "Friend of the People, Fuck the Government" haha

    ReplyDelete
  35. Dope video.

The energy and fun you had was evident.

    GOAT? lmao Come on guys.

Looking forward to some more fusions in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I would go crazy if Lupe performs at the Oscars. Imagine the hype/buzz he would get from that.

Lasers might go a milli then, lol

    ReplyDelete
  37. i've looked into some stuff like that but the skull n crossbones never really made the connection
    thanks though

    ReplyDelete
  38. fuck the comments, I love this song..Rock is my favorite genre..and New Moon was dope most of you are not man enough to admit.

    ReplyDelete
  39. LOL at someone bringing up the facebook comments as an example of why the song isn't good. Half those fools still think Lasers is coming out next Tuesday. And the other half probably don't even know what Japanese Cartoon is. GTFO

    ReplyDelete
  40. @datkid

no offense but i dont think lupe showed the skull and bones intentionally

    ReplyDelete
  41. Lupe i love the style. So when are we going to learn more about Japanese Cartoon?

    ReplyDelete
  42. i don't really get the "oh he's a sell-out" comments. He's still rapping, you know.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Not a single person said "he's a sell out" in these comments..

    lol..

    ReplyDelete
  44. That's what I get for not being specific. What I meant was that everywhere I go (I'm talking about the internet) I see (read) people criticizing him for trying something different (he's had songs with a rock vibe before Solar Midnite).

    ReplyDelete
  45. I really dig the record, I have had it on my itunes since the day it was released and still listen to it. I am all for LU doing LU and having fun with it. All I can hope for is that LASERS is the lupe we have all grown to love and the reason we come to this site 15 times a day minimum. If LASERS is as epic as F&L and The Cool, while LU still does what he does for fun...I will have nothing but more respect for the man!

    FNF UP!

    ReplyDelete
  46. This how Lil Wayne wish his rock album could sound

    ReplyDelete
  47. FINALLY! i got the brand of his jacket while he wore durning the making of the video!! TERIYAKI BOYZ

    chea...

anywhoo. beside that one comment up top that says read wut da facebook people are sayin about the song, nothing negative came out of this new style that we all seem to like. then again, wuts not to like?! great job my dude!

and for those who dont like it...i cant imagine who...

    Lu no longer rules you.
You can do what you do.
    Back to your usual.

  48. Everybody knows Kenna, right?

Well read Blink by Malcom Gladwell. 'Nuff said.

    ReplyDelete
  49. While I am not a fan of the movie or the song (too greatly) I can understand where Lupe is coming from, the video direction and the way it was written was pefect so respect to that!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Twilight is the biggest film in the world?!?!?!? seriously?

It must be a small world then.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I don't know if the person commenting as "lupe..." is Lupe or not, but it doesn't really matter.
    I like the track.
However, I am not mentally challenged, thus it being associated with the Twifaggotry is a huge let down. I've been bumping lupe since mixtape number 2.
I've got the albums. Multiple times. Signed.

I'm sure you're trying to expand your audience, but teenage chicks who go into hysteria for pale half naked white dudes are not it.
The fact that they're into twilight just proves my point of them being too stupid to understand what you on about.

As said, I like the track, but am forced to dislike it because of the Twilight association.

    ReplyDelete
  52. "Seeing that so many people seem to enjoy this whole Twilight thing,
some of you might find this interesting.

Kellan Lutz who plays Emmet Cullen in Twilight included
Hip Hop Saved My Life in his i-tunes playlist.

Here's what he said about it: I love the beat,
but you have to listen to the lyrics to understand it."

  53. @RappingDelight

    yeah thats Lu, confirming that

    ReplyDelete
  54. Go for the E.G.O.T, Lu!

    (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony)

    In case ya'll don't watch 30 Rock

    ReplyDelete
  55. I thought he was gonna turn into a dog or whatever it is at the end lol

    ReplyDelete
  56. Sorry guys im going to say the song is Okayyyyy... the video is dope tho. But as far as making a video for a song why this song? Make a video for Shinning down or something geez Lupee. Your not going to win the Oscar, Paramore is and that is obvious. Lupe do a song with the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS PLEASE! MY LIFE WOULD BE COMPLETE!!

    ReplyDelete
  57. ^ This wont be the only video he's making, this song and video is basically taking advantage of the Twilight New Moon hype

its also eligible for an oscar, so thats another opportunity for Lu

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh and ill track/video.

Aside from that, I don't get why people are bashing Twilight so hard, I've never seen it but seriously so what if it's a huge trend with the girls.

There's plenty of bad movies that I know us guys would never say the same about.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Wow! all i can say is FNF UP!!! its a good thing Lu is showin is versatality. I like all music bcuz i like to listen to different types. I def fux wit dis Solar Midnite joint. Lu, keep doin ya thing man. I see an Oscar wit ya name on it ya digg. I'ma support ya no matter what you do man jus keep doin you! Hatas fall back

    FNF UP & AWAY!!!

    ReplyDelete
  60. "The fact that they're into twilight just proves my point of them being too stupid to understand what you on about."

Um, excuse me? I'm a huge fan of the Twilight series (as BOOKS first, mind you) And that fact does not undermine my intelligence. Not all fans are screaming crazies who show up to movie premieres with bleeding necks begging Robert Pattinson to suck their blood. You come off as a pretentious asshole, pardon the French.

ANYWAY, Yes New Moon is the biggest film in the world, it broke records domestically as well. I was beyond excited to see Lupe on the soundtrack, which includes AMAZING artists such as Thom Yorke and Lykke Li. I'm happy for Lu, that he can be included in something like this. Some of my friends who otherwise would not have listened to Lupe had their interest peak when they heard the song in the movie and then borrowed all my albums and mixtapes.

Being a fan of something universally liked does NOT make you a blithering idiot, thank you very much.

Continue exploring music in its entirety, Lu. A lot of people are listening. *thumbs up*

    ReplyDelete
  61. ppl are mad weird, if you dont like this rock song wait for the fucking rap mixtape in a few weeks, thats wut im doing, instead of hating

this way better than that rock song waynes shootin video for

but this aint better than hot revolver or politcs(by wayne)

  62. Lupe, Dope song Dope vid...Im proud of you!!

& @datkid2012 -I totally agree w/ u about the skull and bones thing...i'm huge on conspiracy theories as well!! I kinda figured u knew something about all that, hence ur name had 2012 in it lol but I didn't want to make any assumptions. Didn't even catch that in the vid...when I saw it and it made me smile!! Fuck illuminati!
    FNF UP!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Whats the conspiracy with skulls and bones? and what does is Zeitgeist about?

    ReplyDelete
  64. ^

    http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/

watch the movie! make sure u got time tho...its long, well its the length of a full blown movie.

also if you want to know more, its all over youtube.
type in illuminati or jay z deception stuff of that nature....

    ReplyDelete
  65. Wow...some of you people are ridiculous.

I admit this isn't anywhere near one of his best songs, but its not bad and its on the f'ing Twilight soundtrack! It had the 3rd highest opening weekend EVER. So yes, it's pretty big. The video is incredibly hype. And if he had fun making it then let him have fucking fun. He just released a damn mixtape and supposedly has another one coming AND the album is dropping soon. Let him do his damn thing.

Good shit Lu. Sick video. I really love rap/rock combos and u should explore it more. Get that Oscar...i'm sure this will bring more people to your world.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Oh and what's with this comment about Twilight being for unintelligent people? All types of people read these books!! So ignorant

    ReplyDelete
  67. simple and plain
    i'm digging this
i'm just happy to be hearing more of lupe. even tho i could stil listen to The Cool, Food and liquor, and previous mixtapes for the rest of my days and still be happy.

    ReplyDelete
  68. So here we have it from Lupe's Myspace

"SOLAR MIDNITE" is NOT a single off of "LASERS"...Nor was it intended to be apart of "LASERS" project...

"SOLAR MIDNITE" was exclusively done at the request of the Twilight: New Moon Team to be apart of their film, motion picture soundtrack and as a vehicle to promote the film... NOT TO PROMOTE "LASERS"...

    I produced "SOLAR MIDNITE"

I'm not SELLING OUT by doing a song for NEW MOON...

People thought I "SOLD OUT" when I did "Kick, Push"...

    I LOVE "SOLAR MIDNITE"...

"SOLAR MIDNITE" is NOT a HIP-HOP RECORD...

    ReplyDelete
  69. "Oh and what's with this comment about Twilight being for unintelligent people? All types of people read these books!! So ignorant"

Just because all types of people read the books doesn't mean they're well written. They're like Dan Brown books or Terminator movies: trashy but entertaining.

    ReplyDelete
  70. LOL @ this thread

"Cuz I'll perform this bitch 9 times in a row at every show!!!"

  71. Reminds me of Gorillaz "New Genius (Brother)"
