Seeing that the Freshmen Class of '10 is in session now, XXL takes a look back at the class of 2008 (which was Lupe's Freshmen Class) to see where they are now...click HERE to read what they wrote about Lu and the others...
Don't forget to vote for Lu in the poll at the end of the article...
def. did NOT have a gold album at that point. never had a number 1 song.
ReplyDeleteat that point he def did NOT have a gold album. never had a #1 song.
ReplyDeleteUh, this was in 2008. He already dropped F&L and The Cool.
ReplyDeleteThis issue dropped in Nov. 2007...

ReplyDeletelmao
It wasn't even called Freshmen Class back then, it was 'Leaders of the new School'
ReplyDelete...besides that Lupe didn't have a Grammy back then unless you count the Grammy for that Beyonce song in which FNF had some writing or production credits.
And this was the first time that XXL did a feature like this so it was only right to put Lupe on it.
the point of these so called freshmen covers is not just for new ppl in the game its for ppl they believe will have the most impact in the next year thats y lupe was on the cover even tho he had dropped F&L 3 months earlier same reason lil boosie was on their and young dro and gorilla zoe they all been out for a while

ReplyDelete:-( I miss the old Lupe.
Old Lupe? Still the same Lupe to me.
ReplyDeleteworst freshmen class. saigon and papoose might be the biggest flops in hip hop history. not to meantion zoe boosie, and plies are worthless. rich boy had one good mixtape. that leaves 3 respectable artist in Lu, Ortiz, and Crooked. Both '09, '10 were better
ReplyDeletedro comes w/ some good every now and then
ReplyDeletedro comes w/ something good every now and then
ReplyDeleteLast years was goonish and that's only counting J Cole and Blu :)
ReplyDelete...I'm pretty sure the others were good tho from what I've heard
Wait, J Cole in this years
ReplyDelete...guess only Blu then
Still kinda pissed that XV didn't get it this year, and Wiz and Drake who should've got it last year.
ReplyDeleteLupe(for sure) #1
Plies & Rich Boy(tie) #2
Crooked I & Ortiz(doing good, but still got a long way go) #3
Dro, Zoe, and Boosie are one hit wonders atm.
Saigon and Papoose never even made it on IMO, expected more from them.
XV is still under-underground.
ReplyDeletePlies has been getting features and selling. (has almost 3 gold albums), but for substance, yeah, Rich Boy is totally slept on. I think too many people are prejudging him.(his name for one)
