The high court on Monday refused to hear an appeal from Charles Patton, the Olympia Fields man who was convicted and sentenced to 44 years in prison on drug charges.
He appealed his conviction, saying that jurors weren’t questioned by his trial judge on whether they had any bias against firearms.
Patton had a loaded firearm when he was arrested. The Illinois Appellate Court threw out the appeal, saying the judge did not have to ask about potential firearm bias on his own.

I thought he was only found with drugs... no wonder they wont hear his appeal. Although that's not to say they might've heard him if wasn't packing heat...
ReplyDeleteGood, he deserves all the time he gets. He certainly isn't innocent.
ReplyDeleteWhy people want to "FREE" these kind of people back into the community is totally beyond me.
He needs to do every minute of those 44 years. Who knows how many families he messed up by dealing them heroin. Lupe Fan to the fullest. Respect Chilly for putting Lupe on. But he messed up. He has to pay for what hes done.
ReplyDeleteDam 44yrs down the drain.....
ReplyDeletemust of been moving some BIGGGG SHIT!!
anyone wants to shed some light on the conviction?
He done the crime, so he deserves to do the time. Throw away the key.
ReplyDeleteWell "free" Chilly doesn't necessarily mean he should be free. It's kind of a thing that people just say to show remembrance for their friends. And as I remember I'm pretty sure he got 44 years for having a kilogram of cocaine (or heroin?) I'm not too sure for the actual conviction but that's what I've heard.
ReplyDeletealso on a side note... what the fuuuuuck does chilly look like?
I haven't seen a picture of him
I agree he deserves jail, but murderers get less than half the time a dealer gets, and he hasn't killed anybody. He's just caught in the system. Also, it's the buyers fault if he gets addicted.
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of the "Free (insert name here)". It's obviously a ripoff of Free Mandela and Free Willy. He probably won't serve the full 44, though. Also, I doubt Lupe was involved somehow...
ReplyDeletekilos of heroins isn't just like selling a bit of party pills, but 44 years is a long time...
ReplyDeletehe got caught with 4 keys (est. worth in the millions).
ReplyDeletered tips or yellow tips?
ReplyDeleteThey gave him 44, now that ain't long.
ReplyDelete44 years, really? Maybe y'all aren't comprehending how long 44 years actually is. It's more than twice the amount of time I've been on this earth. I'll leave it vague, but I contemplated a lot in the back of a police car recently. I look at all the potential this life ahead of me has, and realize it can all be taken away because of one mistake. The way I see it, things aren't always as simple as "He messed up. He has to pay for what hes done." Despite the wrongdoings one might get themselves caught up in, people are people. I'm not sure if life is meant to come around twice, which is why I think (mostly)everyone should at least be entitled to a chance to redeem themselves and become a positive influence on society
I just want to point out the fact that we REALLY REALLY don't know anything about this situation. Too often we read or hear things and automatically base our opinions about a person or situation arbitrarily on what we have "found out." Also... we do not REALLY know Lupe as much as we think we do from his lyrics. You don't know that man's life or what has transpired... All you can REALLY do is conjure up some sort of scenario for Lupe and Chilly's relationship/ decisions and then base your outlook on that.
ReplyDeleteTHE HOOD IS A FUCKING TRAP THAT NO ONE LIKES TO ACKNOWLEDGE, NOT EVEN THE PEOPLE IN IT.
So please don't go around passing judgement on a man until you have walked in his shoes.
HOTEP
Preach @Denim Mouzon
ReplyDeleteI wanna know exactly what FakeRhymeStyle wanna know.....what does Chilly look like?
ReplyDeleteso what does chilly chill do? raps?
ReplyDeletei cant find any of his music.
Its over!!!
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't deserve any time.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, arresting people for drugs is stupid.
Second, arresting people on guns is against the constitution.

haha...CHEERS to my fav blog!!!!

Selling drugs and carrying loaded guns is fucking illegal. You must not get the idea of a law system and how one is required in every country to maintain order.
ReplyDeleteThe LAW is the LAW. Fact is drugs are illegal and have fatal effects on people and lives.
You talk about family....what if one of your family members was hooked on drugs, overdosed because they're hooked on the drugs he sold them?
Thats fucking stupid. I dont care if its family or not, you do it, you put lives in danger, you do the time. period.
Nobody says drugs isn't bad. It's just not the government's place to regulate them. It starts with society and your and family.
ReplyDeleteA country without guns is a country controlled by the government.
Laws against marijuanna and the like are like how prohibition against alcohol back in the day used to be. It doesn't work. It only causes more violence. Look at the drug cartels in Mexico.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to ban drugs, then ban alcohol, it causes many traffic accidents.
Not everybody abuses drugs either, some people take them in moderation.
Government shouldn't be regulating this shit point blank period.
Weed should be considered Deviant not Illegal,
ReplyDeleteWhat about all these Political and Occupation Crimes that just gets slaps on the wrist & pats on the back?
NOT just America but all around the world........
&
What NEWS channel(s) really investigate these topics?
Chilly gets 44yrs
While a child molester gets 7yrs & a no school zone restraining order? FTS
Oh yes, because drugs don't destroy communities. Mainly lower income and minority communities. Like they dont destroy families.
ReplyDeleteand we are going to act like alcohol and cocaine have the same affect.
Lets all go to capital hill and tell the government not to interfere. America would be a much better place with all these drugs being legal
Now, the amount of time compared to other crimes is a different issue. Child molester should be put under the jail...
ReplyDeletebut these drugs are HARMFUL. if they werent deadly, there would be such laws against them.
and if y ou KNOW the law and you STILL continue to push? You think you're invincible. WRONG.
drugs are harmful & I'm not a 100% expert on drugs
ReplyDeleteBUT what about all the prescription drugs being tested on children to see if they work & no PENALTY?
OK i guess that sounds fair as long as the GOVERNMENT give u permission its fair game
to loosely quote Katt Williams "Nobody ever overdosed on weed but if u take too many tylenol that will be yo last headache."
&
I'm not suggesting people go out and do drugs, I just dont like the system.
Lmao at them comment saying "I'm sure lupe wasn't involved"...
ReplyDeleteUhmm you started to listen to Lupe Fiasco yesterday???
and guys saying he deserves 44 years? lmao you serious??? to keep an inmate in prison for 44 costs probably the same as putting him through Yale 2 times... And yup you as a tax payer is paying that... And everyone knows that if there's a market for drugs someone will be selling it... doesn't matter if Drug Dealer 1 is sent to jail.. Drug Dealer 2 will take his place... and so on... and so on..
The war on drugs is just a joke so the government can spend your tax money on stupidity...
And like someone stated above child molesters don't even get 44 years...
And you guys stating your a Lupe fan to the fullest then saying Chilly deserves 44 years... you guys know that FnF was built on Chilly's drug money right? he is the funder of FnF.. you know that right?
And listen to the intro of Handcuffs for me...
"A country without guns is a country controlled by the government."
LMFAO you serious??? Watch bowling for columbine for me...
And please compare Switzerland to the U.S.A and then tell me in witch place the government controls more... and yea if you've got some sense you'll find out Switzerland has direct democracy and guns are illegal...
enough for now...

ReplyDeleteJust dropped the bomb on FnF
&
Here comes the residue.................................
theres no way lupe could have been involved with this guy in drug trafficing he just magically came up with the money to start his own entertainment business...they deffinitly werent partners in this drug selling business
ReplyDeleteim just gon say this if chilly aint do what he did then their might not have been a Lupe Fiasco so leave it at that nobody knows who did what so why is this so serious oh and i agree with an earlier post murderers get less years than drug dealers and you need a mutual concenses to make a drug sell but murder you just gotta have it in yo head to murder period so get yall shit 2gether
ReplyDeletestop passing judgement on the man you dont know what he been thru and you damn sure dont know the situation let me tell you sumthin ppl decided to do drugs so you a person to sell drugs and you need a buyer neither works without the other so if this really get under your skin then blame the damn government cuz they the biggest drug dealers
ReplyDeleteTwo wrongs don't make a right. Everyone saying, yeah it's bad...but the government does this and that are idiots. Bottom line is he was involved in spreading a product that will hurt a lot of people and he would profit off it. Whether he had his reasons or not, unless it was to save his village or something (which it likely wasn't) he did something wrong. He should get time for that. 44 Years is probably excessive and the fact we're paying for his sentence is wrong. But he deserves something. Think your arguments through.
ReplyDeleteWhere whether someone "decides" to do it not, doesn't make helping them do it right. If someone wants to jump off a bridge one day is it right to push them off? People make bad decisions. The right thing to do , if you can, is stop them from making them, if you can't, walk away . Giving an addict drugs is helping them make bad choices. You can try to rationalize it however you want, but it's wrong.
ReplyDeleteHuh? Why the hell was my post quoting lyrics from "Lupe The Killer" deleted? There's nothing to hide.
ReplyDeleteStrange...
Anybody here from the Westside of the Chi? I'm from West Garfield Park and I wonder how CP stayed free so long. CP was not at the bottom of the food chain folks. CP's situation hits home for me for a number of reasons, so I'll just say 44 ain't long enough. A horrible indiviual shouldn't be glorified for being connected to your favorite rapper. TRUST ME when I say 44 ain't long enough.
ReplyDeleteits still they decision to take the drugs ppl buy mcdonalds even tho its been proven to be bad for them ppl still buy alcohol even tho its been proven to kill but they still do it ppl still take perscription drugs even tho it hurts them more than it helps plain and simple ppl gon do whateva the hell they wanna do the only reason you got somethin against drugs dealers is because your a government conformist if all drugs were leaglized because they said it does gud yo ass probly believe it like i said dont judge on what you apparently know anything about

if you all tried cocaine, you'd like it a lot more.
ReplyDeleteIf guns are illegal, then only the criminals will have them, since criminals don't give a shit and will have them anyways. You can't get rid of guns, they're everywhere. So no point in regulating them it would screw the innocent man.
ReplyDeleteSwitzerland might be one exception, just read the history of England though, they took away guns and screwed over everyone. Thats why the founding fathers including the 2nd amendment in the constitution.
One exception... Guns are illegal in most developed countries (France, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland etc.) . Most developed countries have lower rates of firearm related homicide then the US, and homicide in general. Fact is, when you make guns legal you make it easier for the criminals to get them. That's not even the problem though. When you make guns legal you get domestic violence, kids taking guns from their parents, people breaking in to the "innocent man"'s house and taking them. Yeah, criminals will have always guns, but how often do guns help people vs hurt people. This is off topic anyways.
ReplyDeleteIf we break down those walls coming to see you we would cause we out here and we miss you.
ReplyDeleteFunny how anything with a lupe line posted gets removed. Hey we are using what the man, who is saying "FREE CHILLY", said as evidence to prove a point. Someone was selling something, and lupe drove a benz off of the profit. Put it together. If this gets deleted yall are ignorant.
ReplyDeleteIf we judge on laser debate/or how we can a lasers release date/chilly patton locked up in gate/ just how i felt.you know shouts gemini you need to come back.shouts to sarah green make sure you get a album.
ReplyDeletetheres a lot we dont know probably http://www.justice.gov/atr/cases/patton.htm

ReplyDeleteChill. Cool guy. He mentioned to me a few times that his father was a 'Templar', and that a coming force was going to take over the world. There were several other details I won't mention here. It seemed he like to give out lots of info. Especially concerning other artist. I wonder how his close friend Jay Z feels about this?
ReplyDeleteDamn right he should be FREED. This is a racist system and the ONLY reason he is in jail is because he is BLACK! Paris Hilton, Charlie Sheen and all the other WHITE Celebrity drug addicts and suppliers go FREE all the time...and it's not about MONEY talks and BS walks because some Black celebs have money but are still given harsher sentencing. WAKE THE F UP AMERICA IS STILL RACIST SSDD just look at how they disrespect our president! Sure enough he should not have had the drugs but honestly who supplied him with them. We are so judgmental without knowing all the facts and remember white ppl own the media and fill our minds with stupidity (idiot box) We don't even think for ourselves. I think this is the most contreversial generation ever because unfortunately not all but most thrive off STUPIDITY! FREE THAT MAN AND LET HIM DO SOME POSITivE THINGS CHANGE HIS LIFE & WAY OF THINKING. I think his boy Lupe can help his with that...make him do community service for 20yrs lets start giving some sentences that have meaning and benefit everyone jail does not rehabilitate anyone it is a breeding ground for ignorance, rage and violence. If ppl read more they would see some of the idiotic and unjust sentencing done in America (Lack of evidence or proof and witnesses yet ppl are still sentenced to jail even with credible witnesses to say they may be innocent) INVESTIGATE DON'T DISCRIMINATE. Start thinking and using your MIND!
