But sometimes I wish he would WANT to reach the Jay Z level. Dude has the talent to be both commercially popular and still bring the strong positive message.
Doesn't seem like wants that though. Which sucks because he will never get the credit he deserves by accepting the path he has chosen.
^^Cosign! I hate getting in debates on how great Lupe is....people really just sum this dude as the Superstar-KickPush guy, smh. Lu is really a BIG Deal! S.B. I can't wait to see Lu in Syracuse next week. Shoot outs to the LupEND blogspot for providing that info! Super amped! Will be my 2nd Lu experience:)
Lu doesn't care about being the hottest thing in the streets.
And when that's your mission, it shows...(take wayne for example) people get sick of you and the game gets over saturated by your presence. I'm sorry--but I don't wanna see ANY artist all over the tv screen and in rotation every 5 minutes on the radio.
I respect Lu for staying exclusive to the cool kids. Much More respect in the long run.
Ah love this post(and to break the arguing tension here): As lupe's own words:"My teacher's like, Mr. Jaco Yes? With all that knowledge You ain't tryin' to go to college Be a lawyer or a doctor Get a whole lotta dollas Rather degrade women And glorify violence"
Lupe does not have to degrade women, nor glorify violence to be noticed.
He doesn't have to dumb it down either.
@Luella I don't see Kanye or Pharrell in TV every 5 min. BUT we must live in different continents, I'm sure........ (BTW I'm in America.)
It all comes down to a simple thing: Wasalu Muhammad "Lupe Fiasco" Jaco, does NOT know (nor seems to want to learn; but clearly, deep, deep down desires it) how to make hit singles. Or in simple language: catchy songs. "Superstar" was his lucky one, but judging from the songs we've heard (including "Go To Sleep"), it seems he will still remain unnoticed.
My thoughts exactly.
ReplyDeleteAnd the funny thing is, he hasn't broken through because he chose not to.
Sad, indeed.
^So much truth in that statement, Anonymous.
ReplyDeletethat list is trash for weakly implying that big is better than pac
