Lupe Fiasco stopped through iPower to discuss some of America's economies major problems. TT Torrez sat with Lupe as he talked about why he questions America's authorities, Arizona's highly controversial immigration law (sb1070) and why he thinks that it's important to bring such topics to the masses and invoking it in his lyrics.

I like how Lupe just puts everything so much into perspective. I learn more from him than I do on the news or books. He stay true to his words and not afraid to let it be know how he feel about anything. Respect brother.
ReplyDeleteI'm like Lupe's style recently. Still needs to cut his hair back down though.
ReplyDelete3:10 to 3:35 is the exact reason why he has become a leader. This is where I get my news. He's teaching us about what's going on, and giving us a guide to see the current happenings of the world. Since it's through music, it can be spread 10000x fold to a soapbox. That's the power! Why can't all the other rappers see that?
ReplyDeleteI honestly think he's gonna go down as one of the most influential entertainers in history especially since he is MORE than an entertainer, he's a philosopher with a mic and an amazing flow. I love seeing him speak out for what he believes in. NEVER simply cooperate with the system. "Be the change you wish to see"
ReplyDeleteI love lupe but that voting statement is such a contradiction and happens to be the stupidest thing Lupe has said yet in my opinion. How you going to support Rhymefest for office but not vote? Doesnt make sense to me. When it all comes down, you need the masses to vote for the desired outcome. I hope Rhymefest supporters arent on that bullshit. In fact, does Lupe still reside in Chicago? If not, than it makes a lil bit more sense. But still, for an influential dude like Lu to say 'do everything but vote' promotes a bad message and not a good look.
ReplyDeleteLamer than...? Really you watched an interview with Lupe Fiasco hoping that he would shut the fuck up. That's a little counter productive.
ReplyDeleteFunny what Lupe said on Outty 5000 freestyle (possibly done in 2005 - Making fun of P.Diddy's Vote or Die initiative)
ReplyDelete"You might get killed if you don't listen enough, well I guess I'm dead cuz I ain't listen to Puff, hahaaaaaaaaa!
Best believe our system it sucks, but a person like me dont believe in the system and such, naw I be rippin it up. But for every pond there is different ducks. I believe if you participate at a lower level you could a lot more done, like working wit the alderman"
I guess by helping Rhymefest, hes really doing what he said a long time ago.
^ Nice catch. I almost forgot about that song. I didn't really didn't understand what he meant about Puff until now.

ReplyDeleteits just counter productive to encourage someones campaign and not vote.
ReplyDeleteif there were no parties he liked and didnt vote then fair enough, but refusing to vote doesnt help at all.
also - dont goon the internet to research conspiracy theories, go to a fucking library.
I'm pretty sure when he says he doesn't vote, he means presidential elections. I'm pretty sure he doesn't trust those in a higher position.
