  3. ^^ he owns them, he doesn't use them!

  4. He collects guns, doesn't mean he's a soldier. If I own a lot knives and ninja stars, does that make me a ninja or some shit like that? Nah. He likes collecting guns, it's not uncommon

  5. Haha made my day, "Right, because collecting lethal weapons is like collecting stamps..." I find this very odd as well.

Don't get me wrong. That's not MY opinion. That soldiers are murders line was just powerful, that's all. Then again, I'm not an anarchist. I believe in social contract theory because I'm a student of history and political science. I love Words I Never Said and every other hardcore Lupe track from way back. But that comment about the soldiers being murderers rubbed me the wrong way. If you understand the necessity of government, and not just any government, but one as intricately designed as this democratic republic embodies, then you ought to understand and appreciate the role of the military. This holds for whether or not you believe in the cause or not. You can be anti-Iraqi Freedom or whatever, but to go against the guys and girls who not only put their lives on the line for people like us every day, but also spend years doing that when they could have easily done something to further their own selfish desires, i.e. the paper chase or what have you, that's not right.

Read up on what a true anarchist sees as an ideal society. It's not possible. In fact, it is the very reason that we military.

  8. Really? You guys don't find it odd that someone who is anti violence and anti war collects guns? Why would you want to surround yourself with something you're so against.

Doesn't make to much sense to me. And before I simply get branded a hater...Lupe is my favorite rapper BECAUSE he is so anti violence and anti war and socially conscious and all that. That being said it's understandably a little strange when I hear he owns guns.

  13. It's quite simple, Wasalu's father owned a military surplus store, Lu was building and stripping M-14's with his father at the age of 4, he likes to learn about them so it became a hobby, he goes to shooting ranges and even posted his and his DJ's result sheets on twitter, he also owned a sword from his dad that was a gift for karate practice until some friends bent it.

I don't see the problem as long as he's not shooting anyone or telling kids to go get one.

  15. Regardless of how idealistic your views on life might be, violence is sometimes necessary and that cannot be denied...

    That is all.

  16. ^^^ Violence is never necessary my dude. Go read a book or something!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Like I was getting at with the mentioning of ideals, we would all love it if violence was never necessary but as a society we aren't there yet and not many want to be the test dummy and risk their own well being.

  18. @nyris Agreed that we aren't there yet. My point is that when you come out as aggressively against war and violence as he sometimes does, collecting guns seems kind of hypocritical. I'm not saying it's wrong but it contradicts his message.

  19. Maybe Lupe has seen the power of guns he likes to shoot'em,but killing is against his religion and knowing that power and the people he has lost... #FILLINTHEBLANKS
