Since Friend of the People dropped I received a bunch of fan created covers for the project. The only one that's worthy of a post is this one though. - Created by Rachel
idk I like the idea. One problem is that the people are praying to a Cross, the symbol for Christianity. But there is also a burnt flag inside the cross, which associates the cross with wrong which implies that Christianity is wrong.
Praying is one interpretation of the hands. I think of it as more of they are holding out there hands in need of something ie food because they are starving. And the cross and/or america is a black hole that no longer has anything to offer them. But I guess that could be the same as praying...
Wwjd is not referencing Or denounicing religion at all.
The song was about soicety as a whole. You know How materialistic today's society is and how corrupt the government is. If Jesus were here he'd probably would laugh out loud like what the fuck
I love the art work it looks like the people have lost everything in a fire or something. Their praying that it has to be a better place than this. Well, I don't know for sure good art work though.
More like friend of the industry cuz all those songs were lame. The PEOPLE want food and liquor lupe. Shit the people want enemy of the state Lupe. Enemy of the state was better than fagzers.
Wow u guys are going crazy over something that Sean prob didn't even mean! I mean yea that's not the best way 2 put it, but who knows, he prob meant it in a diff way...
This is beautiful. I love it. I agree with the fact whoever did this was trying to show who lupe really is. Cross for christian and hands "dua" for muslims. Brilliant. Love it
"More like friend of the industry cuz all those songs were lame. The PEOPLE want food and liquor lupe. Shit the people want enemy of the state Lupe."
..Come on man. Where's your head at? Sounds to me like you're pissed at the beats and not the actual lyrics. His lyrical content was all classic Lupe on FOTP. Great wordplay, great messages... honestly, I don't understand what else people like you want.
This mix-tape was sick better than a lot of whats been out this year, expected because Lupe IS better than pretty much every other rapper. Not only does he flow with the best of them, his vocabulary is more complex and content is way more relevant to the common person, FOTP is a very good example of this. For all those engaged in a religious battle about the cover, the original cover has "JESUS" on it. The tape was made ignoring the differences in religion his fans have. His motive is to talk about political issues, the radio's agenda, current events, etc. You guys should really listen to his music.
Wow!
ReplyDeleteSuper nice!
I think Lu would like this.
ReplyDeleteidk I like the idea. One problem is that the people are praying to a Cross, the symbol for Christianity. But there is also a burnt flag inside the cross, which associates the cross with wrong which implies that Christianity is wrong.
ReplyDeleteOrganized religion is the root to the world's problems

ReplyDeleteThe "only one that's worthy of a post?"
ReplyDeleteDamn that's harsh. I guess the other Lupe fans that did art work suck, right?
I like... But the cross is unnecessary :/
ReplyDeleteGreat job Rachel! Lets be positive peeps...either way, it got our attention and made the one it should really matter to, happy enough to post it.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure everyone did a great job! And he didn't mean this as an insult - It sounds harsh, but who knows, maybe it really means something to him.
IDK
Luv4Fiasco!
I like the binary code on the wall too..nice touch
ReplyDeletehahahahahahaha lupe is not a christian. lmao epic fail but gud art never the less but did i mention EPIC FAIL? lmao..
ReplyDeleteEpic fail cos of the cross?
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the real album artwork!?
It is definitely very expertly done, but doesn't seem to make any sense(?)
ReplyDeleteThe actual album cover simply said ''Jesus''
ReplyDeleteThe Christian fanboys went CRAZY over that one, thinking Lupe might actually have converted. What idiots..
Jesus was a "Friend on the people" hence the album cover. It wasn't rocket science.
As for the fan art, its okay. Art is down to peoples interpretations. I think the person who did this viewed FOTP from a very Christian viewpoint...
Still, the cross is a bit much for me :P
epic fail lmao..
ReplyDelete^lmao cosign
ReplyDelete^its saying Christianity is a void.

ReplyDeleteThe artwork is dope. Cross or no cross. If any art makes me stare at it for a few mins and just think, then it wins.
ReplyDelete"The books that take you to heaven and let you meet the Lord there, have become misinterpreted, reasons for warfare"
No need for the verbal war. I'm a Christian but definitely not in a position to tell someone whether they're right or wrong.
You idiots find any reason to argue. Who cares there's a cross on it? I really really like it! Someone should tweet it to Lupe :)
ReplyDelete^ I agree with 99yroc... I actually like this, its creative!
ReplyDeleteCross - Christianity
ReplyDeleteWall - Western wall of Jerusalem?
Hands - Islamic way of prayer?
All ganging up on USA?
Despite all the hatred and love for it shown here.
ReplyDeleteThis is all I have to say about it.

I smile at the friend of the people.
RELAX ok Lu is not the 1 who made this so stop arguing bout the cross jeez!
ReplyDeletelupe is a MUSLIM
ReplyDeletethe person who made this is CHRISTIAN
the cross bothers me
More like friend of the industry cuz all those songs were lame. The PEOPLE want food and liquor lupe. Shit the people want enemy of the state Lupe. Enemy of the state was better than fagzers.
ReplyDelete@staticforce96 OMG okay CALM DOWN!!! I mean Im Muslim, but srsly ur taking this too far, it's not like Lupe is the 1 who made this!
ReplyDeleteOne other person seemed to have gotten the same idea as me.
ReplyDeleteWailing wall - Judaism
Cross - Christianity
Praying Hands - Islam
I'd say burning flag represents the idea of ending nationalism.
It seems like a pro-religion/religious unity type of thing.
Yea but Muslims don't pray like that we make du'a(which kinda like a prayer)like that, but u know wat, yea I see wat u mean
ReplyDeleteWow u guys are going crazy over something that Sean prob didn't even mean! I mean yea that's not the best way 2 put it, but who knows, he prob meant it in a diff way...
ReplyDelete^ Not exactly going crazy. They just shared their opinions...
ReplyDeleteLol. Funny enough, I share their sentiments as well :P
Wow @ EmperorHisAlias... Pretty good interpretation.
ReplyDeleteHowever much I doubt its what the artist was going for, I still think your interpretation is the most fair.
Art is all about interpretation :D
brilliant! great job on this one
ReplyDeleteMy God, did u guys notice the heart made of smoke?!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful. I love it. I agree with the fact whoever did this was trying to show who lupe really is. Cross for christian and hands "dua" for muslims. Brilliant. Love it
ReplyDelete^ wat do u mean? As in he's Christian & Muslim??
ReplyDeleteI don't get it, it doesn't make any sense
ReplyDeleteI think this an amazing peice of work and that it conveyes the overall theme of the mixtape very well.
ReplyDeleteGood lookin'

Too add more to the interpretation table, anyone else think of Japan when they saw the red circle? Somewhat relevant in the diversity of the picture
