shut up about sampling the beat, this song is on point. it's perfect and the lyrics are truthful. and remember, was the beat from daydreaming original? classic lupe! #LupeBack
I've given it a few listens already. I love it, love the lyrics, love the beat. Speaking of beat. I don't understand why Pete Rock is so pissed. I mean, don't they have to get approval to use/sample the beat from the previous artist(s)? I would think he would've known about this and approved it already.
I was expecting a release date for Food & Liquor II to be sometime in Oct. given The Show Goes On and Lasers had a 5 month difference. Hell, I'm not complaining though, it'll be a nice 3-day-early-birthday present to myself.
man pete rock talking like he a somebody...a guy makes a good beat and knows Lupe and say he a great guy ....STFU and just enjoy how he made your beat sound even better...lupe killed it in everyway there is ...f&l2 will be all dat mark my word
Great track, I haven't been this excited for an album since The Cool, but I've noticed that a lot of people that were bashing Lupe for Lasers and FOTP are all of a sudden back on his jock again, despite this track being epic, the subject matter of it was on Lasers, it just didn't have the so called "Hip-hop essence" type of beat on it that you people love so much, it just sucks how Lupe fans turn on him so easily just because of his beat selection.
First off say peace to Pineridge, shame in all the damage that the white man wine did, ghost dance penalty is 5 million beers a year & all that other crime did, more pieces to the teachers of blind kids, to red bells & small cells keeping their mind big
To everythings’ hostile suicide bombers and prosperity gospels and “masegated?” models
With cocaine and blood pouring out their nostrils, they got to, just to stay awake on the catwalk of life where everybody watch you. Straight hair, high heels & a handbag.
Crucifixes racism & a land grab. Katrina, fema, trailers, human body sandbags. A peace sign & a pants sag, a money toss causing nine stipper mad dash.

2nd verse

3rd verse

It’s funny because T.R.O.Y. itself was originally sampled from Tom Scott’s saxophone cover of Jefferson Airplane’s “Today”. Hypocrisy. Pete Rock, take a seat (or two).
I can honestly say, I wasn't not expecting anything this good after hearing Lasers. I was never hating Lupe, I was just disappointed with how Lasers turned out.
FOTP was pretty dope, never understood the hate for that either.
Back to the song though, amazing. It's like revamp of Hurt Me Soul for the current affairs (not that much has changed since). That beat is just so smooth too, I was expecting some catchy hook considering it's a single. Nice to see it stay relevant to the verses.
Really? He thinks the Ba'ath were good in Baghdad? I mean do you see what's going on in Syria? Nationalistic groups like that are ruining true Arab unity.
I'm not Arab btw, I just couldn't get over that line w/o commenting.
I was one who didn't care for Lasers and thought FOTP was meh, but add me to the list of people who love the song. Taking this as a sign of great things to come for F&L2.
Been raping the repeat button since it dropped!!! I feel like all the Lupe Fans that joined during the Lasers Era have been properly introduced to Classic Lu!! Welcome to all!!!
It's been on repeat for 3 hours now, lol. Absolutely amazing song, I love how he said so many things in so little lines. Great references and messages through out, and the song is definitely very well rounded. The chorus is excellent as well, and I don't even need to comment on the beat. Pete Rock should be flattered that his beat got flipped and killed by this man.
I wasn't listening to the song yet...I read the lyrics on a website first.. Lupe killed it. I love this song for lupe's lyrics not the beat, so... What the hell, stop praising yourselves,Pete..it's embarrassing!!!!
Yo chill out, you acting like Lupe is your family member or something. You don't have to call me stupid lol. Just because they don't agree with you doesn't mean they're hating.
It's funny... People like this song more so for the lyrics than the beat. Pete should just be glad that Lupe went on this instead of one of the Young Money trash or Rick Ross and his trash label-mates.
To all those calling others haters because they didn't like Lasers, you seriously need to stop. Lasers sucked ass. People didn't like it because it had poppy beats, dumbed down lyrics, and weak flows compared to previous records. Not because it was "unusual." It really just wasn't a good album. Thinking so does not make one a hater. BTW I do like this song
Oh yeah wins and never forget you were lyrical gems...and shining down and I'm beaming were bonus tracks... and the other 3 were alright but clearly not at Lupe's previous efforts...soooooo Lasers still wasn't that good
Words can't describe how I feel right now Lu u did it ur shutting these fucking haters up I love u kid!!!!!
ReplyDeleteshut up about sampling the beat, this song is on point. it's perfect and the lyrics are truthful. and remember, was the beat from daydreaming original? classic lupe! #LupeBack

Pete rock is dumb.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't listening to the song yet...I read the lyrics on a website first.. Lupe killed it. I love this song for lupe's lyrics not the beat, so... What the hell, stop praising yourselves,Pete..it's embarrassing!!!!
That's why he's the best. Haters have nothing to say HA! HA!
ReplyDelete^Just because you don't like a song or songs don't mean you're hater. You can't have an opinion? But this is dope though.
ReplyDelete^Don't be stupid
ReplyDeleteWhen Lupe does something unusual, people don't like it. And they come here and spew STRAIGHT hatred.
Its flabbergasting. Check out his fb...
Having an opinion IS different from just ""hating"" something. Haters don't have opinions though, they're just stupid :/
While I don't agree with Lupe using this beat without Pete Rock's permission. Lyrically, he kills it
ReplyDeleteYo chill out, you acting like Lupe is your family member or something. You don't have to call me stupid lol. Just because they don't agree with you doesn't mean they're hating.
