Lupe released ROTHKO (Yet For Computers) and it's a 6 sec. soundclip that comes with an Artist statement and a preview of other pieces in the series that were created for WOLF Studio and can be bought for 2.1 Million Euro and won't ever be available publicly.
Check it all below.
Didnt expect this.
ReplyDeleteIn the great words of Sean, "Really though....?" That marks my exit, peace and much love to y'all
ReplyDeleteLupe stop trolling lol
ReplyDeletelupe does not just upload these kind of things for nothing he has a reason behind this.
ReplyDeletePretty obvious to me that " At last for humans " is an actual song which he'll hopefully release after this "joke". If you look at the waves you can see that they all look like they might be the same song and the waves for " At last for humans " look like waves for a normal song. Seems like he just compressed the song in a stupid way and said it was music for computers... Cyborg song will probably be a bit slower and we'll be able to recognize some sound bits as music..
ReplyDeleteBut it clearly states that the other "songs" won't be made available to the public.
DeleteYea but I find it highly unlikely we won't hear anything more from this "project". The names of the "songs" also suggest it pretty heavily being "yet" "then" and "at last".
DeleteNext week we'll probably have a statement from the computers that they leaked the song to the cyborgs so they could enjoy it as well... And the message being that no one can stop free flow of information... or something as remotely clever..
I'm sure lupe meant well and thought he was doing something fun for the fans to decipher and ponder about... but he's just coming off pretty douche-y at the moment for hyping up a 6 seconds song "meant for computers to enjoy"... But well it looks like we'll have fun talking and pondering about this anyways. And maybe my computer enjoyed it...
Anyone has any clue if "Wolf" has any meaning?
Reach
DeleteFigure out what he was trying to express. Challenge yourself.
DeleteCreative. Too bad we wont be able to hear the At Last For Humans. Which kind of defeats the purpose of releasing the one for computers. :/
ReplyDeleteIm so done with lupe
ReplyDeleteI swear
Deleteok, i love Lupe, i really do but this is some old bullshit. Who gives a fuck about what a computer thinks of our songs. I'm all for being artistic, but this is just pushing it too far. Stop trolling, and give us a damn song to hold us down. i've started listening to lil wayne for goodness sakes.
ReplyDeleteWoah don't go that far
DeleteLOL!!!!!!
DeleteI love Lupe and have always supported what he does and always will but this is just stupid lol. Its pretty sad that I would rather have two more albums like Lasers than stupid shit like this. Get it together Lu
ReplyDeleteSounds like my fart when my jeans are tight. I would still listen to my fart than lil Wayne though.
ReplyDeleteanother grammy nomination for Lupe!
ReplyDeletelmaoooooooooo
DeleteYea and with that im done he could have kept this bullshit i hope this wasnt apart of that plan he so called talked about two years ago
ReplyDeleteI wonder what Lupe has in stored for us????? Shall ah to my plans hope they super plan out
ReplyDeleteHe actually says "InshaAllah to my plans, hope they super pan out"
Delete"inshaAllah" means "God Willing" in Arabic. Muslims say it when talking about something they want to happen in the future as a reminder that nothing is possible without the will of God.
Lupe was COMMISSIONED to do this. Meaning someone studied his body of work and intrests and said, "hey, lu we would like to do such and such. Yada yada yada..." This is really about artistic expression, and utilizing it in a musical sense combined with traditional visual art to kinda show who something doesn't have to fit into the cofines of what we are use to. Do I wanna hear a 6sec bleep fuck no! But as a whole I think we Lu was given the opportunity to do was kinda dope. For me it's like a push to stretch the boundaries and create nee forms. Which in this sense of what I'm guessing Wolf Studios had in mind Lu was the perfect fit. Imo
ReplyDeleteWOLF studios is most likely a product of Lupe Fiasco's imagination.
DeleteAgreed! This is still really cool
DeleteIt says that yet for computers was the only song to be released to the public the rest of the songs can only be purchased so ppl please stop overanalyzing this dude i mean damn he's literally telling you what his plan is no hate im just trying to save yall from yall crying and whining later about how lupe treats his fans wrong this dude is almost as bad as jay electronica
ReplyDeleteSo you really believe that they created all of the songs... and will only release it if they get 2.1 billion euros...
DeleteYa'll talking about that statement like it's a legally binding document and not just a part of the content... a part of the project...
And your talking as if it was never stated in the publication stop thinking you know more than whats presented
DeleteIt's selfish for everyone to feel like they're entitled to a full length song. Lupe should be free to execute his art in any way that he pleases. Not everything he creates needs to appeal to you. Fans should be excited that they've received something out of the ordinary. People expect artists to create and then get disappointed when they do just that, CREATE!
ReplyDeleteNo one is entitled to anything, however lupe knows his fans yearn for his music, he knows the hype he creates and he plays off of it nicely. I believe Lupe tries too hard to be artistic. The mistake he makes is always trying to explain things, hence this "Yet for computers'. Its pretty much double talk, he has made music in the form of metaphors and entendres in the past, which in turn has fans dillusional that this here is something more, something "deep". It really isn't. Its just him talking, and no music. He is primarily a musician correct? Theres no reason for him to do this, and those who back him are attempting to justify this nonsense. Note: he cancelled FL2, so the fans want music in place of that, not some explanation of something thats apparently not coming out ^^^^^^..doesnt even make sense.
ReplyDelete"Too hard to be artistic"
Deletecan you explain that a little more?
dialin up hot97 requestin this joint as we speak. this is my new anthem! cant wait to blast this in the car

I dont even know where to begin with this whole "Yet For Computers" thing.
but i must admit it's unbelievably brilliant. Damn!
The original tweet posted to lupes account stated "public release on February 25." It was not released on that day, and the day after we are being told it will never be available to the public. I think this is where everyones frustration stems from; promising music & then not coming through. If he did not want to release it publicly and this was going to be some work he acquired and wanted to sell privately, cool, it his own artistry. Just dont tweet your private work PUBLICLY, and in the tweet dont insinuate it will dropping PUBLICLY.
ReplyDeleteWell stated
Deleteit actually was released publicly on February 25th via his twitter. i think you should read the artist statement.
Deletei think he delivered what he promised to deliver. i just think people put the carriage in front of the horse and now are trying to make sense of it but from my point of view the man did exactly what he said he was gonna do.
DeleteI definitely expected something else. but he definitely never stated that it'd be a song or single. He said "part of a series of musical commissions" and that's what we got.
Deletemy "too hard to be artistic comment". Let me preface by saying when lupe is on, he is the greatest lyiricst since nas. The big difference between him and nas is nas puts out music and doesnt "explain" what its about, he leaves it up to us. Lupe with a song like the instrumental, put out this LONG explanation of what it was about. This makes the fans say "oh ok, well no need for us to guess, question, interpret what the song is since he told us EXACTLY what its about". Lupe is a deep guy, he is, There are times however where he attempt or tries to be "deep" which dilutes his music/art. The instrumental explanation diluted the musical experience. This "Yet for computers" is just talking...about talking...about something that isnt going to be made public. Whats the point of letting your fans (who love your music) know that they, in fact, wont get to hear any of it? Thats if it is even music to begin with, which furthers my point. He does things like this and calls it "art", but its 6 seconds and two beeps? with a b.s. explanation. Explaining why he did (or didnt) release the assumed "songs" worsens it for the fans because we like lupe musically..i mean he is primarily a musician. He just takes things too far, when he knows what we want, he has plenty of music to release. Its just not sensible to keep attempting to be artsy, when he already is a good artist, he should let his art speak, instead of him speaking for it.
ReplyDeleteI think your explanation of why lupe is too "deep" is in itself "too deep" and omits (for your own benefit i might add) large sections of what "actually" happens and replaces it rather unfairly with "WHAT YOU THINK SHOULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN" Its all subjective and I think the artist has the right to express himself however "deeply" or "lightly" he feels and you as the recipient (AND HOPEFULLY A PAYING ONE!) has the right to interpret things how you see fit but i think its unfair to just exclude the artists intent entirely and replace it with what you think his intentions should be. And correct me if im wrong but dont all artists explain there songs or music when they are in interviews? so just cuz lupe can explain his own music with a little more depth than the next artist can that makes him somehow "diluted" as you put it. And didnt he JUST release a full album less than 6 months ago that according to billboard hasnt even sold 200K yet? LASERS is certified Gold with a 3x platinum single. I mean what do you expect from an artist who gets bashed for being too commercial one minute then when he releases something completely not cmmercial his so called "artistic" fans dont commercially support it and now that he got hired (thats what a commission is by the way) to do something very artistic he gets accused of being "too" artistic??? If i were lupe i would probably retire too cuz with fans like that id just say fuck this im moving to canada.
DeleteTo the guy saying Nas doesn't explain his music, he actually has an account on Rap Genius where he explains his music to people, he's the first rapper to do that on the site, soooooooo yeah......
Deletewhy are people so butthurt?? okay, so we didn't get a song today, boo hoo....but I for one have nooooo idea what's going on with this project, and that is kind of exciting....he's obviously not gonna sell this for 2.1 million euros and do a private concert for somebody or something (ie the live recording of at last for humans)......so how bout we sit back and wait for the next step in the process of what's coming.
ReplyDeleteLol. I knew I was going to see these type of comments. This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen a rapper do artistically.
ReplyDeleteLupe is the G.O.A.T!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe has evolved so beautifully....
THANK GOD FOR LUPE FIASCO
Can't wait to see what he has in stored for us
^^^^This!!
DeleteShouts to Lupe!!! I respect artistic expression!
ReplyDeleteNice it's always nice to get out of the norm and do sth totally different
ReplyDeleteI like this kind of mentality
This is one of the most imaginative and creative ideas that I have seen in a while. Great Concept
ReplyDeleteThis wasn't even for us. Just shut up and wait for Tetsuo
ReplyDeleteMy head hurts...
ReplyDeletewe should create a kickstarter to listen to the song
ReplyDeleteHe's trying way too hard...wtf Lupe?
ReplyDeleteIt's art... what is so difficult to understand. He just gave us a cd.

ReplyDeleteNobody said this was supposed to be music.
ReplyDeletetetsu and egg noodles gonna be dope. real talk.
ReplyDeleteThen what the f does "musical composition" mean?
ReplyDeleteHaha It's funny how everybody is acting like lupe needs to proove anything to you all.
ReplyDeleteif he wants to record his farts and release them he can do whatever the fuck he wants to haha, this is just funny to me. he is an individual and he can do what ever he wants :p
If you dont like it dont buy his shit, thats all you can really do.
peace out
^^^im sure he'd love to make a song for you.
ReplyDeleteLMFAO so tru
ReplyDeletei actually think this is very interesting. NO joke, but the sound clip will actually begin to sound like two words if you play it on repeat for about two minutes straight. Think of it like one of those illusion pictures that you have to stare at the right way. Sounds like he's trying to say something but I still can't quite hear it. I got it on the iphone though, might make it my new text tone. At least he's unpredictable. This type of creativity is so beyond me that I feel like I can't even comment on it. I'll admit it, i'm impressed. Can't wait to see what comes next.
ReplyDeletekeep doin you Lupe! don't let these haters ruin it!
yo ill give you 2.1 dollas for this gahbage
ReplyDeleteIf you slow the Yet For Computers song down you'll hear a voice saying "Tetsuo"
ReplyDeleteLu still my nigga.. he's just providing build up for (At Last for Humans) in an innovative way. At least he's putting more thought into this project than "Lasers" and "F&L II".
ReplyDeleteKetsado
ReplyDeleteYo check out my song I made with white noise, its entitled "yet for televisions". I'm just trippin lol
DeleteThis post gave me cancer
ReplyDeletei believe that lu is not around the same people as before that why his new stuff is not the same. i mean he had Matthew Santos, gemstones, soundtrakk, and all the fnf to help influence his music, for example i feel that lu rawness and lyrical skill has recently decreased - which gemstones probably helped with during the mixtape days.Have you heard gemstones newest mixtape (elephant in the room) you can tell that type of positive and creative influence lu has been missing around him.
ReplyDelete"positive and creative influence" what exactly is so negative about Lupe in terms of his music? Is it the fact that he's not making the music that YOU want him to make and therefore it's a negative to you? Lasers was a positive album but got a lot of flak because of the beats, FOTP came out and people moaned about the beats as well, FNL2 got a slightly better reception but people felt he was "too preachy" Lupe can never win, I'm not saying everything Lupe does it golden but all of the negative reaction that he's gotten for the last couple of projects have been ridiculous, it's all been positive music, hell it's actually more positive than his mix tape days when he was a gangster rapper that ALOT of niggas praise him for, I understand his music has changed your life but quit bullshitting saying "he doesn't have a positive influence" when in reality you people are just mad about his beat selection.
DeleteDid you read his comment? He said that Lupe probably doesn't surround himself with the same people who had a positive and creative influence on his music.
DeleteIt's like an athlete is the best and their teammates are competitive as well, so that athlete feels the need to work harder to remain the best.
I do agree with you that people are overreacting just a bit, but his projects in the past, honestly, were put together better.
I do like how Anon was thinking too, because I forgot that FNF is not the same as it was back when The Cool dropped, and I bet Gemstones did push Lupe.
Nah he didn't.
DeleteHe definitely didn't push him. You got that all wrong...smh
Deleteit not just about gemstones its about him having the whole fnf around him to motivate him and keep him competitive
DeleteGemini,Canon, Shayla G,Pro, Soundtrakk, Jason Salvador, Simon,Bishop G, G-Ball, Chilly, Esco, Matthew Santos
ReplyDeleteThe musical genius that was KanYe's MBDTF entire album was just topped in 5 seconds of Wasalu Jaco (p.k.a. Lupe F.) This is probably the most profound piece of music since Pachelbel's 'Canon D in major'. Simply breathtaking. And Lupe F., these simple minded idiots can hate on here from behind their computer screens, but we both know that Van Gogh and Bach weren't appreciated in their lifetimes. Keep up the brilliant artistry. Much Love
ReplyDeleteThat's cool man. No need to call people idiots though
DeleteMost profound music since Canon D... haha that's a YOGA streeetch. I'm not simple minded and since art is subjective my opinion is that there is nothing mind blowing about a computer's interpretation of a six second soundclip. No hate I just don't vibe with it. Either way he's got us talking about it.
DeleteAlso I'm pretty sure Bach was appreciated during his time, composers had it better than painters.
I don't get it, but do your thing Lupe.
ReplyDeleteJust bought the whole thing from Lupe!
ReplyDeleteGonna meet him tonight
-Peace and much Love
Somebody need to get palm slapped
ReplyDeleteThe mooninites
ReplyDeleteI believe it is doing exactly what it is supposed to do; start this conversation. Not much was known about it. Most of us are disappointed because we were expecting something absolutely profound and a masterpiece on lyrical grounds; yet we got two blips. I believe this was to test how much patience that we truly have. Most of us have either been tired out by Lupe, or will ride with him through skulls. At any rate, the conversation has started and people have chosen their sides. Who is right, who is wrong? Or... I could be over-analyzing this. :)
ReplyDeletecool im buying it!
ReplyDeleteJust copped it... almost blew all my money on fast food and foamposites... glad I had some paper stacked.
ReplyDeleteYou clearly work for Atlantic...
ReplyDeleteSo......can i put it in google translate?
ReplyDeleteHas anyone slowed it down and heard the message yet? Or are you all still angry?
ReplyDeleteJust tried slowing it down. Still didn't get any words or anything.
Deletehttps://soundcloud.com/djramski/tetsuo
DeleteThe 1st one supposedly says "Lupe" .. The second is more clear and says "Tetsuo"
LupeTalk peeps smfh
ReplyDeleteyall need to free your minds from the confines of what you think art should be. Art is simply expression. Let him do his thing and let's see if something else is coming.
ReplyDeleteI highly doubt a 6 second blip will ever be considered art in any way
Deletewas it his expression? Yes. That makes it art.
Deleteso the expressions make when i piss & shit art as well right? thats what youre saying..
Deletehey....
ReplyDeletemaybe Lupe wants you to hack this project, ever think about that?
I already thought of that and mentioned it in the chatbox but someone on here said that because he only released two compressed sound glitches that it wasn't possible to hack it..
DeleteI'm not a hacker or very computer savvy so I'm not sure how much truth there is to what I was told, but I think if it were possible to hack someone would have already done it.
Has anyone even thought about maybe playing the 6 seconds in super slow mo. Just an Idea its worth a shot I would do it but idk how
ReplyDeleteThat already exists. Check the chatbox...
DeleteJust a heads up: I've heard it and it doesn't reveal very much about the song and is a waste of your time to listen to
Loopy abusing his worthless stans?
ReplyDeleteGood jab ;]
soooooo anybody else waiting on indicud or wolf to drop until 2015 when lupe drop another album...I wonder how many times this one will get name changes, push backs or cancelled only to be put back on the table...lu slipping
ReplyDeleteanybody else notice he pretty much abandoned don't drop the flag and the 2nd japanese cartoon album? I know im not the only one
ReplyDeleteso it says "lupe fiasco".........genius. I can't wait for the next 2 parts!
ReplyDeletei see theres alot of dick slurping going on right now
ReplyDeleteIt hurts being a Lupe fan sometimes !
ReplyDeleteI used to be the biggest Lupe fan, I'm one of the few who really did like Lasers. But as time goes on I'm really getting tired of him and don't think I can hold him down like I used to. This is pure bull.....
ReplyDeleteThough I kinda agree with the rant. Antonio Aguilar I agree with you.
DeleteEveryone - both pro and con - calm yo'selves.
ReplyDeleteCold War he says looking at the waveform on the screen tryin to figure what it means? Also the black cover of his album matches rothkos later years.... Depression over people not appreciating his work, if u saw rothkos documentary . I think hindsight is his goal. A bigger plan we know not.
ReplyDeleteAnd many other parallels
ReplyDeleteSweet! I love Lupe!
ReplyDeleteLupe Fiasco is my favorite rapper of all time. This further solidified that. This is actually fucking genius if you think about it.
ReplyDeleteYou have to slow down the track and play it backwards. It just says "Tetsuo...Youth"
ReplyDelete
