S1 recently chopped it up with SOHH about what gems he had for Lupe's, now cancelled, Food & Liquor 2 part 2 LP.
"Lupe's got about six to seven joints from me right now," S1 told SOHH. "There's some possible singles in there, really big joints. I'm very excited about the stuff that I've done, that I've produced for him.
The sound is really different for a few of them and then a few of them are epic-like joints, your [Kanye West's] 'Power', your [50 Cent's] 'My Life,' really epic-sounding records so I'm really excited to hear him on that and see where those go as well. So yeah, Lupe is dope. I've been a big Lupe fan since way back. Even before his first album."
The "My Life" producer also revealed how he got connected to the elusive rap star.
"I actually met Lupe through some producers I worked with," Fiasco added. "I was doing a lot of records with [production twin brothers] Christian Rich and they were working with Lupe and they had some records that we had worked on together and collaborated on. Lupe liked them and actually three of the records are co-produced by me and Christian Rich.
After that, Lupe actually hit me on Twitter because I was retweeting some stuff about joints we had and he hit me like, 'Yo, DM me your info.' So we DM'ed out info and then after that, I've been pretty much sending him joints. He's hit me like, 'Yo, I need this. I want to buy this.' We've just been retaining that work relationship. That's how that came about. Christian Rich brought me into the whole circle."

Well...so much for them perhaps
ReplyDeletei bet lupe still uses them
ReplyDeleteThis actually makes me angry... Goddamn. I wanted those tracks!! :(
ReplyDeletenoh pal
DeleteOh well its out the window for now just gotta wait and see... They'll get released eventually but no time soon
DeleteIt's going to be the same album, I bet. He's probably going to use those same tracks but just have a different name for the album.
ReplyDeletenoh you pal
DeleteI hope so and that'll make more sense... I never looked at tGAra as a two part proj so if he let it go then my view of the album changes
DeleteElusive, difficult to find, catch or achieve...;-) I feel smart...that word stuck out to me for some reason...
ReplyDeletehope to hear!
ReplyDeleteS1 doesn't seem phased about pt.2 being cancelled. Maybe Lupe is just going to release a similar, but more fine tuned album under a new name/concept. The reason F&L2's album cover was black was because Lupe had no ideas, so now he probably has a better direction to go in. After all, he said before that pt.1 was the GARA, and pt.2 was no concept, just rapping and rappity raps. So what I really think is happening here is good. Lupe wants to put out the best product possible, and we just have to be patient.
ReplyDeleteI only meant Lupe had no idea for the cover, not the actual music. He said part 2 had no concept, but dude is a genius, so he's got it figured out now.
DeleteThis might sound silly to people who are in the music business but does he still have to pay the producer for all those cancelled songs? And is that considered a huge let-down for S1 after he did all that work?
ReplyDeleteJust wondering.
FUCKKKKKKK!!!
ReplyDeleteJust because the album itself was cancelled, doesn't mean he scraps the songs little boys and girls. WAKE UP. All the tracks from the (posthumous) Lasers were eventually released and/or leaked.
ReplyDeleteBut Imma put money on it that the tracks are used on the new album ... some if not all... and this album just has a new title and detachment from the "Great American Rap" political part of F&LII
Besides S1 only said he dropped off some beats ... never mentioned a thing about Lupe actually laying lyricals on them..
ReplyDeletewonder if the character from his song american terrorist 2 is theme of the new album?
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of guessing...
ReplyDeleteWhy wasn't Atomic 'Mis-philosophy' on TGARA anyway? It fits the theme?
