  1. I think Lupe buys his beats from soundcloud for $20 and he gets a mail-in rebate!

Beat is horrible, flow is lazy, lyrics are on point as usual with Lu but man he lost his passion.
There's no enthusiasm in his music anymore!

    This song is horrible!
He used to have an amazing mic presence, used to rhyme and flow so dope and make it seem effortless, that Lu has died as of recently, he no longer exists.

    3. Your blind dude get the lyrics, READ them Lupe says in his this he isn't in the game he playing around with it. He is calling Jay Z & Kanye out for being the leaders of the agenda. LISTEN this is music for enjoyment this is secret indictments. Anyone that knows Lupe knows he's an artist. C'mon

  5. Um...His lyrics will always be his skill.
I'm usually an "optimist" Lu fan.
But, I just can't feel the "energy".

After listening to the Cool, I feel energized,
but after listening to this, I just hear, I can't feel.

  6. Of course the lyrics are on point but like everybody else is saying, it sounds dead, no emotion and his flow is odd and wack beat selection. I know artists evolve throughout their career but come on Lu....

  9. I don't even really mind the beat, but the flow is what makes or break the song for me personally. I mean even if you have one of the lamest lyrics, you could change it up with your flow. Okay not a good example, but you understand.

Lyrics + Flow + Beat = What basically makes a truly rap art piece.

    Lyrics(S Rank) + Flow(Just meh...) + Beat(B?) = This song's rating for me.

I know it shouldn't be rated, but I'm just a bit underwhelmed.

  11. Lu releases SLR 2 and 3 and his "fans" deem he's returned. They hear this song maybe twice and he's "fallen off" and "not the same". Again. If you don't like the song for whatever reason that's fine. But damn some of y'all can be real fickle.

    1. If you listen to pre-tetsuo Lupe, everything from Light Blue, Poor Decisions, to SLR2&3 and now POP, he's clearly stepped up to a new level. Lupe is always improving, but he's always going to take chances with his music too.

      Delete
    2. Getting Chris Brown on your album is definitely taking a chance. Lupe fell off after The Cool, and hasn't been the same since.

      Delete
    3. Now now. I believe The Cool will always be Lupe's crowning achievement. It's simply not fair to say he fell off because he hasn't released anything as good (album wise). That album is more than a classic. It's the Odyssey in rap form, bruh. And a totally unique concept that won't be repeated. I honestly believe the game that is the music industry drained him of his spirit . . . but it's evident he's regaining it all back with drop after drop.

      Delete
    16. Yes nigga I said it think critically, it don't matter whether you have a college degree or not. Music is part of the arts and part of appreciating art is analyzing it, especially having an opinion. When it comes to Lupe Fiasco you have to listen closely, especially the first few times. He is one of the few in the game that promotes educating oneself and it helps when it comes to his art, his music. Don't dumb it down and be like everybody else to listen once and say its wack period. Say exactly why and people will respect your opinion whether it is wack or not. You say his flow and beat (instrumental) is wack, so you must know what that means. So why is it wack? What is wack to you?

      Delete
    17. Look nigra it's a matter of taste. His flow sounds weak and unenthusiastic. The beat is sped up recycled garbage. No need for a thesis, that's how I feel. It's art right? We interpret it in our own way right? You suck up the wack juice with a straw....I can't do anything about that baby doll.

      Delete
    18. Alright nigga I guess you can't back it up your interpretation and taste. You say your a true Lupe Fiasco fan, a lover of this artist, and you too scared to say what you actually feel and why. All the silence is worse than all the violence nigga.

When it comes to the album I am sure hes gonna use good beats because damn well he doesnt want it to flop like FNL2.

    3. sounds just like what he said he was doing at the end of the song...exercising! and his exercise is better then most rappers best attempts. he's supposedly gonna do a joint with math hoffa and loaded lux...over a justice league beat. and IF he does actually drop it...this rap shit is about to be put in a coffin and mofos will have no choice but to bow down.

  29. Why can't Lupe just get a dope beat!!!? Honestly, he's friends with Soundtrakk (Serious Songs), Pharell (Bangers - Electronic type) and Kanye (Bangers - Soulful type). I love Lupe for real and I hate to join the bandwagon of Lupe fans who bash him but its so frustrating watching 2Chainz/Meek/T.I. make hit after hit when they are no where near his level.

And Im not asking him to go Lasers. Nas has Life is Good and J. Cole has Born Sinner both excellent mainstream albums that aren't considered commercial (No booty shaking or blowing money fast).

Its not about how complicated he can rap! We know he can...Its about him talking about everyday situations either he or we face(d) in an imaginative and witty way.

@thelupendblog PLEASE GET THIS MESSAGE TO LUPE!!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Lupe's music is not profitable like 2chains or meek mill, they rap about alcohol, drugs, money, sex these a some of the most profitable industries therefore there music will get pushed forward. J.cole bearly had a number 1 single but his fans manage to help with album sales

      Delete
    2. Yeeeaaaahhh those other guys make CLUB songs. Of course they're more profitable. You think Lupe cares? Honestly. Do you think Lupe even cares how his fans view his newer material? I don't think he does. Clearly the songs he's released recently are more personal than ever (mixtape like?). He's not trying to win people over right now. He's just creating buzz . . . just as he described with his beautiful (hah!) singing at the end of SLR III.

Personally that's why Lu is my favorite artist. He does what he wants (and if he is not allowed he'll let us know). He's a little wacky and out there but . . . he has dignity. Something many rappers lost a long time ago.

      Delete
    3. I wasn't talking about club songs, and I wasn't talking about profit either. Im talking about making songs that many people can 'feel' and relate to.

Thats why I used Nas and J.Cole as examples. There are other rappers who don't necessarily make club songs and are still loved e.g. Kendrick, Eminem, Pusha T, even a lot of Jay-Zs stuff isnt club music.

Not only beats, Lupe does not (want to) get Jill Scott, Sarah Green, Mary J, Janelle Monae, Chrisette Michele etc on hooks when it worked out great for him initially.

As an artist its great to 'do your own thing' and 'make ur own path,' but if you completely do not listen to any of your fans, then you really don't have any fans. Ur a lone ranger, they loved a guy who was just passing by.

      B

      Delete
    4. Well . . . honestly those people you named have made a few club songs themselves haha. But I see your point. Regardless this is all a matter of perspective. I like the fact Lu does his own thing. Some people don't. That's what it all boils down to. Lu will always have fans no matter what. Same with other artists . . . I mean Big Sean is still making money.

Liker I said these songs are more personal. He addresses critics and fans alike on these recent drops, while mocking the rap game in general. I think it's brilliant but clearly others don't.

      Delete
    5. So what do you think "Crack ft Chris Brown" is? That's a completely club record/

      Delete
    6. Is it? I heard one grainy YouTube snippet of it. Sounds like more of a techno/electronica song. Yes they play those in clubs but I'm sure we all know what I mean when I say club song.

      Delete
    7. Oh you mean Stripper club song or Trap song? It's the same thing to me. They're sole purpose is to get radio play. Just to make it interesting, what do you think the song with Nicki and Kid Cudi would have sounded like?

      Delete
    8. I just want you think about it though. What would that song have sounded like? I think Lupe is going to try and make some club bangers so he can get that Ferrari.

      Delete
    9. Do you mean another one? He already has more than one.

    ReplyDelete
  31. To be honest I can't think of any rappers that have tried starting beef with Lu. Lyrically anyhow. I know Soulja mentioned him and that's what spawned SLR. Even when Chief Keef tried to diss Lu he got sonned and couldn't even continue with his foolery. Nobody really wants to mess with Lupe like that . . . clearly there's a reason. Either he's well liked or well respected.

    My money's on both.

  63. to be honest tho just give your opinion of the song fsfs. there waaaay bigger problems on this planet then who's better than who, i am really surprised at the amount of passion people put into it, i mean that brain and time could be used for something positive and worthwhile

    1. Lupe would be ashamed of you. You speak English and "try" communicate in English, but you don't can't type out a coherent sentence. Read a book Nigga. I do mean Nigga literally.
