This is what I have been waiting for 9 years - pretty powerful for him to use his older songs to highlight the current situation in Baltimore. Shows that even after almost a decade that nothing has really changed in the "ghettoization" and police brutality against the Black community. Big up Lupe!
This is by far one of my favorite songs from Lupe from the album that awakened and changed my whole perception of what the art of rap really means, Lupe has always spoken about the reality of the community way before Kendrick Lamar, its a damn shame Lupe is always overlooked for the remarkable lyricism and flow that he has always posessed from the beginning, nobody in this new generation of rappers has continued to inspire me like Lupe, I am extremely glad to see this visual to remind everyone that Lupe will always be the lyrical inspiration we need in hip hop. He is undeniably my main choice for lyricism since 2006 and will always be in my rotation for years to come, no matter what anyone says.
He definitely has but what I meant is that they praised Kendrick Lamars album for the type of lyricism that Lupe has always posessed and didnt even mention his name, he finished an amazing career of almost 10 years signed to a major label, but its as if no one talked about it, that is a very special achievement considering all the struggles he has been through because he ALWAYS spoke the truth that others would not even dare to do, its just not fair that along with all the hype for to pimp a butterfly Lupe is not ever talked about in the similiar conversation of rapping about african american issues he deserves more credit for beginning his career with topics that are very important to his community, such as absent fathers, on he say she say, talking about black history on all black everything, talking about his own people degrading women on bitch bad and I can think of many more examples. Its just sad no articles are written about his above par lyricist ability.
