Call it a Dope Opera: Lupe is Writing a Weekly Soap Opera on Instagram!

I think we can all tell by now that Lupe Fiasco has a thing for writing. To date, he has masterfully penned five studio albums and at least six official mixtapes, along with various lengthy letters to fans, law enforcement, and even the late, great, Gil Scott-Heron.

Adding to his resume, Lupe has decided to take a stab at modern literature by creating an Instagram-based soap opera called Silver Poles. The first part of the tale takes place in an exotic dance club and is told from the perspective of an unknown narrator.

While the effort is quite ambitious, this however, is not the first time Lupe has used social media to share a story he's created. Lu already has a six chapter novel he wrote on Twitter beneath his belt, titled, Teriyaki Joe: Neo-Harlem Detective. The six parts of that novel have been wonderfully archived on the Genius site, for your reading pleasure.

Although he didn't state how long the series will run for, Lupe did mention that he will be posting weekly, so stay tuned for episode two! To read the first installment to Lupe's Instagram soap, Silver Poles, click the link below.

Lupe went on Twitter yesterday and answered questions from fans. Here are some highlights:

- Artists only get paid for 11 songs on an album, so Tetsuo & Youth will have 12 tracks instead of the 17 we initially reported.

- Skulls will be entirely produced by Soundtrakk.

- His favorite track off Tetsuo & Youth is called Adoration Of The Magi.

Finally, he asked who everybody wants to see him work with. So for the next week, tweet him who you'd like to see him collab with and he'll tally up the votes and reach out to the artist that wins and try to make it happen. So far the people with the most votes are Nas, Kendrick Lamar and Chance The Rapper!

After locking his Twitter account and calling his private profile North Scorea in July of last year, Lupe has decided to make his profile public again. Tread lightly though because he will still be blocking people who get out of pocket.

He expressed that he still has interest in the long awaited collab with Jay Electronica to which Jay responded. It also seems that we may be getting Punchlines ft Math Hoffa, Loaded Lux and Soul Khan soon depending on if Justice League release it or not. Finally, it appears that Boi-1da will be on Tetsuo & Youth and sample clearance issues with the beats he produced may partly explain the delay with the album. Tetsuo Season is now in full swing!

UPDATE: After tweeting that he believes Marcos Maidana actually won in his majority decision loss against Floyd Mayweather in tonight's fight, Lupe decided to relock his Twitter after receiving negative feedback. As he put it, "That's why my twitter was private...the overreaction of the masses to my personal opinions...".

He also said that the single release date will be coming next week. Whether that means "Mission" isn't a single for Tetsuo & Youth or it's release date has changed isn't clear at the moment.

Lupe just went on Twitter to state the following:

Loops here to say: just when we think the career is over and the critics take their swords out of my back and type up the obituary... Most Loved, Most Hated and most hated again...always compared to my own standard..always in my own zone...independent, diplomatic... Adored by the academics, embraced by the killers, rejected by the hipsters, feared by your manager and your publicist, misinterpreted..

Arguably the best lyricist alive, underdog, laughed at, ridiculed, insulted, disrespected but never proven to be a liar, hard truths, real nigga, make u mad, make u cry, shit all over your favorite rapper with my eyes closed, take L's so others don't get exposed as frauds.

Lupe Fiasco responds to Fans who say they want the "Old Lu" Back

After responding to some fans on Twitter, who said that they are missing the "old Lu," Lupe wrote the following:

I just feel like a lot of people think they know what's best for an artist UNTIL they start to make art themselves or get involved in it. The forces you gotta satisfy actually making music for sale and also for creative integrity and progression is a tightrope walk.

Some artists find that groove and ride it very well then the global trends change and they find themselves taking a backseat. That's just how life is. But I wasn't into music for solely the sake of selling it or getting my ego stroked by fans.

I'd say most artists in the world make art because it brings them joy of some sort. Once you sacrifice that joy 4 others then things change. So instead of searching 4 this mythical "old Lu" u might be more happy just embracing the "NEW YOU" & maybe this "same Lu" dont fit in that.

After the Streets on Fire, Peace for Hire event in Chicago last night Lupe took to Twitter to state the following:

We would like to thank sincerely all those members of the community that came out to the Strategies For Peace conference last night @ CCICS. It was a very special honor to have Mrs. Cleopatra Pendleton as a part of the conversation with the new youth leaders of the city of Chicago

To see the intellect, passion and bravery of the teenagers on the panel speaking on the roots of violence in their lives was shocking. Shocking because of their realization of the depth of their circumstances and in the revolutionary commitment they have to combatting them.

On April 1st 2013 they want to begin the process of changing those circumstances, Forever. This youth group is using the month of March to plan and formulate major actions within the city of Chicago to begin April 1st until they see radical change in the ways in which the ENTIRE city and EVERYONE in it responds to the violence in their lives.

For this entire month of March #LF will be donating his twitter and facebook to help in spreading information about this developing action. Please follow @LupeFoundation as well for more info in the coming month about how you can take part.

Lupe Fiasco Twitter Bars of the Day

Lupe dropped some bars on twitter again today, read below!

Harsh, not for cuddlers, but for butcher knife jugglers, jumpin out of jets over jungles in search of jaguar jugulars, A paper bag is child's play someone is mistaken, I practice rapping myself out of bear traps, a straight jackets like a vacation, but let's say its a paper bag, and I'm hog tied and gagged, handcuffed to safe then lock inside the trunk of a cab..

Then the cab is driven to the river, set on fire, you know what skip the river lets say quick sand cuz quick sands thicker, makes it harder 2move, especially when the dynamite is being triggered, oh that I forgot mention, we added a little TNT 4 a Lil xtra tension.

Then comes the explosion, a shower of pieces of cab, safe, sand, handcuffs and paperbag, the crowd stands silent maybe a few gasps. Just when all hope is lost, and the crowd gets really sad, the smoke clears I appear with cucumber slices on my eyes enjoying my mudbath.

Saying "This all you niggas got for me?! Next time tie me up properly, Lu-Dini is unimpressed by this shoddily botched locksmith mockery!

If Im trapped in a paper bag just make sure it's a pen in it, cuz that bitch gone look like the roof of da Sistine Chapel when Im finished.

Paper Bags?! I'm the guy they use to rap the mouth holes in paper masks, a major tasks for any one not trained in the art of hatin trash. That's why I practice so fiendish, to make sure every little flicker of garbageness of my inner rap self is aggressively extinguished.

It's what defines meanness, in a mean defined linguist, that leaves behind lines thick as linguini everytime I string a stream of mean shit.

Lupe just took to Twitter to prepare us for what's to come in the future. Check it all out below:

6 yrs ago there was a seismic shift, a rise, a lift, he finally arrived in rap form and used that form as his platform 2 provide his gift, summarized as sick, quick witted and hip, also promoted wisdom in a broken system gave the fans a fix and bitch niggas the fits, a culmination of hardwork, long nights through cold water and large surf, wading the water this MC became a Man, McMan, Star Search...

Now in between these here albums we've had our ups & downs, partly my fault cuz the way I talk a mix of giving a fuck & he don't fuck around, but I always kept it honest as my father made me promise, before he left this world to go and dwell amongst the comets.

So put aside the comments, the constant blog blah blah & me arguing with comics, cuz #Sept25th I bring again the gift prepare 2 b astonished.

Lupe Fiasco responds to D.L. Hughley calling him Dumb

Earlier we posted an interview in which D.L. Hughley called Lupe dumb for not voting. Just now Lupe responded to that via Twitter. Read below:

Hey Kids Dont be "dumb" like me. Drink Water, Read Books & also Michael Jackson, 1 million dollars, you feel me? Holla! Their all yours DL.

Yo but dont read fancy political books by really smart people like I do that'll make u dumb...read dumb shit by dumb niggas... and by water I really mean water but wash that punk shit down with vodka an tequila and put some molly in there too...

And please vote like DL said...I mean that shit has been making society better and safer for the past 200 years atleast...

After his freestyle, in which he said that he's the best at a concert in Chicago, went viral yesterday Lupe went in on a Twitter Rant/Freestyle (however you want to call it)

Aight y'all I take back lets just say "We The Best!"....meaning me, me, me, I, me, me AND me the best!

My ego on zero/its just that my re-al's on hero/my confidence on Michael but my pride is on Tito. I aint paid dues? What is this receipt 4??

Boy said "with Lasers you kinda stumbled some and you're only as good as your last record", I said so I guess I'm only as good as being number 1! I asked him "What's your success measurer? The message or the register?" in the end you got a win-win, only thing I lost is my competitors.

He said "Yeah but Lasers was your worst and nothing like ya first"/ I said "well that's me vs. me and your growth is nothing like your birth. He said "You're a lame dumbed down sellout only known for talking out your ass"/ I humbly nodded in agreement and asked 4 more ketchup in my bag. I left thinking how I used to be in his shoes/ writing verses flipping burgers, now I serve the world pearls from socio-political menus.

Lupe Fiasco returns to Twitter

Looks like Lupe already had enough of his self-imposed Twitter hiatus and returned to the network. After handing his account over to Nikki Jean last week, Lupe simply posted "#LupeBack" today and changed his profile pic back to a pic of himself.

UPDATE: The #LupeBack tweet mysteriously disappeared now but a tweet reminding us about the "The Readers" Book Club book of the week was posted.
