hmm interesting news on the 3rd album
Lupe believes the 1984-inspired Streets On Fire may become the basis for his third album.
"It shows this really weird world that's half-destroyed," he says. "I think storytelling is one of my strong suits and I might expand on that song.
"I've been planning this real grandoise idea, which I'm still battling with. So many good ideas are coming out of it. So far, it's all only in my head."
So will it turn into LupEND, the third album Lupe has talked about since his debut, supposed to be his last?
"I don't know," he says. "I'm about 85% certain that LupEND will be my last record, and what's stopping me is these ideas from Streets On Fire.
"See, that could be a concept record before LupEND. But I've said for so long my third record would be my last. Hey, maybe I could do a double album!"
Update: We actually found out that it will be a 3 disc set !
If you are what you say you are, a superstar
ReplyDeleteThen have no fear, the camera is here
And the microphones
And they wanna know oh oh oh oh (the return)
If you are what you say you are, a superstar
Then have no fear, the crowd is here
And the lights are on
And they wanna show oh oh oh oh, yeah
[Verse 1 – Lupe Fiasco]
Yeah, uh
A fresh cool young Lu'
Tryna catch his microphone check 2, 1, 2
Wanna believe my own hype but it's too untrue
The world brought me to my knees, what have you bring you?
Did you improve on the design? Did you do somethin' new?
Well your name ain't on the guest list, who bring you?
You! The more famous person you come through
And the sexy lady next to you, you come too
And then it hit me
Standin' outside of heaven waitin' for god to come and get me
I'm too uncouth
Unschooled to the rules and too gum shoe
Too much of a new comer and too un-cool
Like Shadow and Lavelle, I battle with it well
Tho I need holiday like lady who sung "Blue"
Go back, whatever you did you undo
Heavy as heaven
The devil on me, two ton's too
[Chorus (Matthew Santos):]
If you are what you say you are, a superstar
Then have no fear, the camera is here
And the microphones
And they wanna' know oh oh oh oh, yeah
[Verse 2 – Lupe Fiasco]
And you better wear your shades
The spotlights here can burn holes through the stage
Down to the basement pass the Indian graves
Where the dinosaurs laid
Then out through China, nearly miss the airliners
Magnified times five, 'less it's pointed at the rhymer
Ricochets off the moon and sets the forest ablaze
Now that's important to say
'cause even with all that most of us don't want it to fade
We want it to braid, meaning we want it to grow
Meaning we want it to stay
Like the Governor called and he told him to Wait
Un-strap him from the chair and put him back in his Cage
The audience ain't fazed
And they ain't gonna clap and they ain't gonna praise
They want everything back that they've paid
'cause they've been waitin' since ten to see the lights get dim
[Chorus (Matthew Santos)]
[Verse 3 – Lupe Fiasco]
So chauffeur chauffeur come and take me away
'cause I've been standin' in this line for like five whole days
Me and security ain't getting' along
And when I got to the front, they told me all of the tickets were gone
So just take me home where the mood is mellow
And the roses are grown, M&M's are yellow
And the light bulbs around my mirror don't flicker
Everybody gets a nice autograph picture
One for you and one for your sister
Who had to work tonight but is an avid listener
Every songs her favorite song and mics don't feedback
All the reviewers say "You need to go and see that"
And everybody claps 'cause everybody is pleased
And then they all take the stage and start performin' for me
Like, ha ha ha ha ha
Ha ha ha ha ha, ha
[Chorus (Matthew Santos):]
If you are what you say you are, a superstar
Then have no fear, the camera's is here
And the microphone's
And they wanna know oh oh oh oh
If you are what you say you are, a superstar
Then have no fear, the crowd is here
And the lights are on
And they wanna show oh oh oh oh, yeah
If you are, what you say you are
Then have no fear

ReplyDeletehey lupe, why is lupEND gonna be your last album? in a interview I thought your goal was to continually release good albums with good music. I really dont want you to go away nor do I want you "dumd it down" and sell out so if thats what your avoiding by ending I respect that but i dont think that that is possible. cause what you speak is true you have your head on right. so GOD bless and continue to do what you do
ReplyDeleteWell the ride was good while it lasted lupe i think your gonna be up there with the greats someday your living legend and food&liquor, the cool, lupEND,(crs).will be all classic albums i think it seems so unfair to some of your fans like myself because we never knew about the mixtape lupe and we just got on the boat with food&liquor but no matter what i hope that 15% will win out!!!!!!!!!!!!F'N'F^
ReplyDeleteWhy? Lupe your one of the only people bringing something orginal and worth it. Yeah it's a tough concept for people who don't really attack learning the content you put out but I would like to think I understand "The Cool Saga". Micheal Young, and how he became "The Cool". How the Game took his soul, and his relationship with "The Street". I would hate to think of that ending. I think sometimes you might think 'what's the point if they don't get me' 'what's the point if this doesn't make history'. But I hope you could understand there is one fan who truely believes in you, and isn't that worth making more music till the end of time? I want my future childen to be able to listen to you growing up, and find solace in hip-hop that doesn't have to dumb it down. In my heart you're right up there with Nas,Jay,and Kanye. I say fuck the system and keep spitting from your heart.
ReplyDeleteCRAZY! I just got done reading 1984 in my English class!!! (well i was suppose to read all of it. really just kinda skimmed through it) =] I heard it's a pretty good book. Now i want to actually read the whole novel. haha
ReplyDeleteLast!!! dog you fucking up right now. this cant be it. you put out to hot ones and i know the third going be on bang mode. why stop now!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteLUpe Please don't leave the game now this hip hop world needs intellectuals like you, Nas, MF doom, Mos def etc. These wack cotton candy rappers are a reflection of this new age society. Without profits like you we will lose to this newly forming fascist world
ReplyDeletemuch love
Don't quick something your ggod at Lupe. See your the inspiration I need to jump start my life in creating hip-hop. Yeah the Art of Story Telling that's me Felix Sky is my name and when I spit it comes hard but no one get's it.
ReplyDeleteand i know why-
BISHOP G THEY TOLD ME TO COME DOWN COUSIN
BUT I FLATLY REFUSE I AIN'T DUMB DOWN NOTHIN. Push LupEND to 2020 or something, let's talk about the begging. Your 7th best rapper in the world make rapping worth it and push. -Felix Sky
felix what the hell are you talking about? Anyway,Lupe, do what you feel is right and as your fans we'll faithfully support you, since there's no better storyteller.
ReplyDelete"Now we just got one more to go L-U-P-END"
Lupe, third album? No way it can be your last. After listening to hip-hop all day, at work, at school, in the car, i just know that a talent like you is what it is going to take to keep real hip-hop alive. Like you say dumbing it down, that shit is exactly right. A talent like you has got to keep spittin. Help save hip-hop with your strong lyrics and sick flow and relieve us from all this mainstream bull shit. After owning both of your albums, I have become one of your more clear cut dedicated fans. Before i had heard of you 2pac was my all time favorite, but once i bought Food and Liquor i fell in love. I'm telling you, your music will stick around if you do, The Cool was insane; every single song i listen to over and over again, it was a rap masterpiece. Not only is your music sick but your style is so cool. I searched for hours to try and find one of those jackets that you and Dr. Romanelli designed, those were too damn fly. Just keep doing what you are doing; but if this is your last album, go out with bang; show all the peeps and the critics that your insane flow and true ryhmes go unmatched - your biggest fan, pierce
ReplyDeleteyo, its your biggest fan. i got all your mixtapes and all your music. the new track hustlers & customers is tight. yo you cant stop making music. you are the best rapper out there and you are one of the reasons hip hop aint dead yet. we need more rappers like you and less fake ass people like soulja boy.
ReplyDeleteFNF UP!
Why are you 85% certain? You shouldn't even be 50% certain. Not even 10%. You are one of my favorite rappers and you are one of the best young rappers we have now that's actually keeping hip-hop in check. Organize your own genre. Stay in the game. You are the American Dream, the rape of Africa, the undying machine. The over priced medicine, the murderous regime, the tough guy's front and the one behind the scenes. Please don't leave the game. :( The other good artist we have left, Common, Kanye, Eminem, a couple of others won't be able to keep it alive for that long. It's dying, it's not having a "heart attack" from what Wayne said. :(
ReplyDeleteITS A TRIPLE ALBUM!!!!!
ReplyDeletelook lupE.N.D. has three discs on it. the discs arecalled Everywher, Nowhere, and End or Downhere.
^^ yeah but this entry was posted in january...
ReplyDeleteI think it is cool that he's so consistent. I became a Lupe fan when i heard him on "touch the sky" when one of the first thing he says is, "represent like lupend the third" now thats before kick push and his other albums. It just amazes me that he had it all figured out and i am psyched for the release of Lupend.
ReplyDeleteim listening to Lupe as i type this...Lupe, your lyrics are so sick, the way you put em together and what they mean when you say em.. Im afraid soon after you supposedly retire, im gonna be devastated cus i listen to you everyday, its 09 and i still bump "THE COOL" which was released in 07... You "CAN'T" stop making music, you just can't... Sadly if you do, you'll be disappointing all your biggest fans including me.. idek if your working on the album right now, i haven't heard an official single from your upcoming album yet.. Just think about your fans who's provoking you to not retire and keep doin what you doin cus it makes me happy and gets me through the day with your songs in my ipod... Make LupE.N.D a good one, but not your last..
ReplyDeleteFirstly, Lupe Fiasco has gotta be the most conscious rapper since conscious rap got a platform. I'll go as far as saying he improved on some of the "side-tracks" of limelight that plagued the likes of Nas and them but he is evidently also battling with that glamour in some senses. Lupe's plan was three albums, tell his bit in music and call it quits. He knew his ish would be timeless but now you have the dilemma where you've made most of the points you wanted to but the arena in which you were doing that holds an allure for the fulfilment of "obligations" of life outside philosophy - in other words it's almost easier to pay the bills rapping than as an author. So it's possible that he'll pull a "Black Album" on us - but not that we're complaining. Give us more.
ReplyDeleteAnother issue is that of your legacy possibly getting marred the longer that one has to battle with "hollywood". Sort of like Kweli and his dip after "Reflections Eternal". It's not to say that any rapper not doing the full-time conscious thing like Lupe is all junk but we got enough of that junk out and God forbid Lupe become part of that.
But yeah, Lupe's amongst the few that really got the brain waves zinging again and the hip-hoppers remembered that we can be street and smart too and shouldn't get too comfortable in ignorance.
Lupe, have you seen Brown Sugar. You remember when she said that she fell in love with hip hop. Yo freal, i fell in luv with hip hop when i heard u spit. DONT GIVE IT UP! u are a legend, soooo freal! u are up there with nas, mos def, jay z, pac, biggie, im tellin u. who cares if you already said this is your last. its okay to change ur mind. keep comin out with more. the world needs to hear real hip hop rather than the club hoppin, booty shakin, candy rappin artists we hear on the daily.....please continue ur music cuz ive fallen in luv with ur lyrics
