The Glow In The Dark Tour 2008 - My Personal Experience ~ @LupENDBlog

As Sean previously posted, I'm Yay-lynn and I'm one of the new co-writers on this blog. I've been reading it for months, and now I'm super excited to be a part of it. I live in California and I usually attend all the Lupe Fiasco shows within this area. He's, of course, my favorite rapper, lyricist and performer. He has such a high energy level when he's up on that stage, it's never nothing less than AMAZING.

I recently attended two of the Glow in the Dark shows; one in San Diego and the other one in L.A. Lupe's performance in SD was incredible! He did about 11 songs in half an hour including his performance of The Coolest with the Justice beat in the background. That was freaking phenomenal. Unfortunately, I was looking forward for Kanye and Lupe to perform Touch the Sky together, but it didn't happen.

As for the L.A. show, I was basically expecting the same performances of all 4 artists. Lupe switched the setlist around a bit and performed less songs than he did in San Diego, but rapped whole songs rather than 1 or 2 verses. He ended with an extremely energetic perfomance of Superstar and had the crowd going super crazy with hands flying in the air.

Kanye's insane performance was coming to an end when the music started for Touch the Sky. He was ending his second verse when out of the right hand corner of the stage, pops up Mr. Lupe Fiasco. Both of them performing that song together was so freaking incredible.

I love Kanye and I apologize to all of you hardcore Kanye fans out there, but Lupe SMASHED Kanye's performance on that song. He absolutely KILLED IT. I heard it from a lot of people that night too.

Overall, the GITD concerts were phenomenal. The lineup was ridiculous, the energy was high, but did it beat a 2 hour set of a Lupe Fiasco show? haha, I'm really sorry to say, but no. It's pretty high up there though.

When i saw Lupe come out with the feathery vest looking thing I melted! He looked so cute! =] He puts on such great shows and Kanyes performance.. I was takin back. It was the first concert of his that I had gone to and it was amazing. I liked how he went with that whole space thing. I almost cried when he sung "hey mama." It was such a great concert. I LOVED it!

I went to the L.A. show and I think Lupe's 30 minute performance overshadowed Kanye's entire set. I am an equal Kanye and Lupe fan so when I saw them both on stage performing Touch the Sky, it was a moment to remember. However, I did catch Lupe at HOB a few months before and he set my expectations for future performances extremely high. I went to the Heart of the City tour with Jay-Z and MJB just the week before GITD and I was just not impressed with either Jay-Z or Kanye. Lupe just brings this whole different energy to his shows that is unrivaled.

I've actually seen Lupe 11 times..haha. Lupe owns everyone anyday for me =) Yeah, I saw Lupe at the HOB too..I understand that Kanye and Jay are so big and famous, but there's something about having Lupe in a good size venue that gets everyone SO hyped up, because Lupe actually connects himself to the audience. the energy is insaaaane at his shows. It's simply amazing.
