Well it's normal for these huge labels... They need their time to promote the album and stuff... and Dropping it in october - December pretty much guarantees more sales... do to the holidays... But Atlantic are my worst enemy :(
Actually Lupe is probably done with this project already, but if a record label believes that your sales will be poor, then they wont let you release the album without proper marketing.
Mike Jones just dropped an album and NO ONE knew about that, that's how many Lupe fans who do not read blogs such as this one will react, they wont know, I mean you still have people waiting and asking about LupEND.
It's all about marketing, and as you can see there is STILL no single for Lasers...
Just be patient, it will come, and if there is anymore BS in the future, then most likely that will come from Atlantic, not from Lu
"Alright, so yeah, we'll hold back Wasalu's album on the pretense of not enough advertising. However, instead of ACTUALLY advertising and following logical sense and actually pushing the damn album, we'll just continue to do absolutely nothing as Lu plays 30 second snippets of amazing songs at concerts. We won't release them as singles though. Lupe isn't nearly important enough, so we'll just keep pushing back the album. That's all we know how to do." - Atlantic.
a) The Carter 3 is not average b) NO. More than likely the album is done or nearly done (FL and Cool) --> it's completion has nothing to do with it being pushed c) No he can't just leave Atlantic, that's a ridiculous supposition d) Drake IS NOT on Atlantic e) Atlantic sucks at marketing. Hence why they push Plies as the future of rap, even though they have TI and Lu on the label. The don't market TI well either. f) Atlantic SUCKS AT MARKETING. Trey Songz? Most poorly handled RnB artist EVER.
Im far from a Wayne fan, but trust me, its a good album from the A&R perspective, from the random person perspective, and from the critic's perspective....
Im far from a wayne fan, but that album was definitely good, but as I said I aint a wayne fan, it aint on my iPod, it wont ever be on my iPod, but gotta give the dude props
1. C3 is an average album 2. statements b-d, agreed 3. Atlantic doesnt need to promote T.I., every media outlet promotes him on their on 4. statement f, agreed
on a personal note,
i think Atlantic is highly interested in the Lupe project, hence the idea they would push it back to promote it more, hopefully. And who knows mabye more time for Lupe to come with some new songs for the album wont hurt. Unfortunately, the fans have to continue to wait....but when it comes i will be amped!
No Atlantic just doesn't want to lose money from putting Lasers out, its not that their interested, but any business knows that if they put out a product without marketing, then it wont sell and the company will lose money
whether or not "every media outlet" promotes TI, he isn't marketed well and doesn't sell nearly what he should for as popular as he is. They also managed his last tour very poorly.
And I don't think Atlantic is HIGHLY interested in Lupe's project, since they are the ones that killed lupEND
and as far as saigon, atlantic gayed his ass, and shelved him. i.e. not gonna release but not gonna be allowed to come out anywhere else
HORRIBLE NEWS...THIS IS REALLY PISSIN ME OFF..IVE LISTENED TO THE COOL AND FOOD AND LIQUOR LIKE 100 TIMES>>I NEED SOMETHIN NEW..A SINGLE AT LEAST. WNNA KNOW WHY LUPE IS YET TO SELL $1 MIL? TRY DROPPING AN ALBUM DURING THE SUMMER. INSTEAD OF THE WINTER ALL THE TIME. SUMMER, A TIME WHEN PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS DRIVIN AROUND WITH THEIR WINDOWS DOWN BUMPIN THEIR FAVORITE MUSIC, NEWEST CD
I'm getting slightly annoyed too. Either gives us solid information or jut leave us alone until your album drops. All these snippets and "coded-talk" info is cool, but it pisses us off even more because it's getting old. Shining Down snippet is nothing I get excited over now.
i still have high expectations for Lasers, however, and even if any promotion whatsoever were to happen now, that would leave 4-5 months without an album.
its clear atlantic has delayed this release again. lupe's frustration with delays amd album name changes are evident in his recent interviews... rest assured lupe is still keeping busy - converse shoes release, music with his japanese cartoon project and a future collab with le messie for trilly and truly. look it up people!
well i'm shocked - who saw this coming?
ReplyDeleteman as soon as i finally get excited lupe tricks us again.
ReplyDeleteboner down lol
Well he can't preview shining down everywhere he goes without thinking of a close release, I mean it would just be sadism
ReplyDeleteLike seriously?... End of this year?... this is just unfair....
ReplyDeletewtf... just in the last year:
ReplyDeleteConcert DVD didn't come out in March
No "The Coolest" video
Album changed 3 times, now moved from summer to end of the year
damn
how un Lupe like. gettin kinda annoying
ReplyDeleteand you forgot a justice remix album also supposed to drop
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed in lupe now... it's not cool to tease your fans, lol...
ReplyDeletefuckin eh, i'm not surprised though... hip-hop albums are always getting pushed back...
and no crs album either
ReplyDeletethis could be another lupe trick
ReplyDeleteget us all disapointed and then drop a single to shock us....
hopefully ha
Send All Complaints To Atlantic Records...
ReplyDeleteHey rhymestyle I thought you said lupe said it was coming out in may
ReplyDeleteLupe Said it would come out in may... then he said this summer... tnow he's claiming it will come out at the end of this year...
ReplyDeleteand @ the Lupe Fiasco comment above I actually believe thats him... hey Lupe...
As Lupe just said... you can thank the wonderful staff at Atlantic Records, they have more say over this
ReplyDeletethe performance yesterday was amazing though
ReplyDelete@ Rhymestyle... why would Atlantic be holding it back. It sounds way more likely that Lupe isn't done, as his track record would suggest
ReplyDeleteThis blows. A lot.
ReplyDeleteWell it's normal for these huge labels...
ReplyDeleteThey need their time to promote the album and stuff...
and Dropping it in october - December pretty much guarantees more sales... do to the holidays...
But Atlantic are my worst enemy :(
@Anonymous ^

" It sounds way more likely that Lupe isn't done, as his track record would suggest"
ReplyDeleteWhat?! what are you talking about.
F&L got pushed cuz it leaked.
The Cool got pushed by the label.
What else is his track record?
Record labels control album releases. If Atlantic wanted out and Lupe said no, it would come out. so again....blame Atlantic
Thank you ^
ReplyDeleteLupe's a joke.
ReplyDeleteI think it is because atlantic wants to focus on thier new rising star DRAKE becasue his buzz is pretty big so they might have told LUPE to fall back.
ReplyDeleteFalse ^
ReplyDeleteDrake isnt Atlantic, and it has nothing to do with Focus, its all in the marketing, zero marketing = Mike Jones dropping an album yesterday
you know J-Kwon dropped an album in February?? me neither, see what I'm saying?
^ Drake is atlantic. alot of people think he signed with interscope but he didn't he turned it down to sign with atlantic. I'm telling you
ReplyDeleteWell I was playing around when I said that it was coming out summer 2010 but I guess I may be right if he keeps this up.
ReplyDeletei knew it soon means later weither its his fault or not but im not mad
ReplyDelete:( Awwwww. I hate Atlantic. Now we're gonna have to wait forever. Can't Lupe just leave Atlantic or no? I don't know how this stuff works.
ReplyDelete"Alright, so yeah, we'll hold back Wasalu's album on the pretense of not enough advertising. ReplyDeleteTired of all the fucking BS.
Well i think it is better to wait a long time for a great album, than coming out with an album soon that is totally average (LIL WAYNE)
ReplyDeleteI present to you the death of Lazers..
ReplyDeleteWell I herd like a group of cows/ that all your record labels wanna shoot ya down/
This sucks :<
a) The Carter 3 is not average
ReplyDeleteb) NO. More than likely the album is done or nearly done (FL and Cool) --> it's completion has nothing to do with it being pushed
c) No he can't just leave Atlantic, that's a ridiculous supposition

Well Saigon Simply Left Atlantic... everything can be done =)...
ReplyDeleteFalse ^
ReplyDeleteSaigon is still part of Atlantic... they never released his contract but at the same time they are in the process of dropping him
Saigon wasted 5+ years on Atlantic... smh
yeah s preme carter is not average its garbage
ReplyDeletei meant carter 3^
ReplyDelete^^ nah..eventhough there are certain things that I don't like about Wayne...you gotta give him props for The Carter 3...it's a good album.
ReplyDeleteIm far from a Wayne fan, but trust me, its a good album from the A&R perspective, from the random person perspective, and from the critic's perspective....

At S-Preme,
ReplyDelete1. C3 is an average album
2. statements b-d, agreed
3. Atlantic doesnt need to promote T.I., every media outlet promotes him on their on
4. statement f, agreed

no he's releasing a digital album through Amalgalm, but I'm sure Atlantic is taking royalties from that
ReplyDeleteHORRIBLE NEWS...THIS IS REALLY PISSIN ME OFF..IVE LISTENED TO THE COOL AND FOOD AND LIQUOR LIKE 100 TIMES>>I NEED SOMETHIN NEW..A SINGLE AT LEAST.

TRY DROPPING AN ALBUM DURING THE SUMMER. INSTEAD OF THE WINTER ALL THE TIME.
SUMMER, A TIME WHEN PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS DRIVIN AROUND WITH THEIR WINDOWS DOWN BUMPIN THEIR FAVORITE MUSIC, NEWEST CD
you didn't need caps for this one man
ReplyDeleteall of this holding back album, atlantic records and blah is just weird.....for some reason I am not excited for it to drop for now....
ReplyDeletelevel of excitement went slightly down since LupE.N.D was delayed....and now the level of excitement just went even further down...
sorry but this is very disappointing.
I'm getting slightly annoyed too. Either gives us solid information or jut leave us alone until your album drops. All these snippets and "coded-talk" info is cool, but it pisses us off even more because it's getting old. Shining Down snippet is nothing I get excited over now.

Anyone else have this feeling that Atlantic will hit us with more fuckery.
ReplyDelete^^ yeah, let's just wait and see what they do with the Live DVD.
ReplyDeletethis gts a lil annoying....
ReplyDeleteto be honest I'm not as excited as I was last month...when it was announced that lasers will drop sometime in May/June
but meh....either it's Atlantic's fault or whoever, it's just a big turn off for the fans.
its clear atlantic has delayed this release again. lupe's frustration with delays amd album name changes are evident in his recent interviews...
ReplyDeleterest assured lupe is still keeping busy - converse shoes release, music with his japanese cartoon project and a future collab with le messie for trilly and truly. look it up people!
Lupe once again killing his own buzz.
