Ed Lover interviewed Jay Z, Jeezy & Trey Songz this morning, in part 3 of the interview Hov mentions that he thinks that Lupe will be one of the next big artists in Hip Hop.
Jay gave me a co-sign like I was RocaWear / but be clear I'm not the air (heir) / I'm the water, fire and the earth; / That means I'm doin' dirt, spittin' flames and quenchin' thirst!
He's said that before. I heard an interview where they asked him who was next to take the crown. He didn't say Lu would take the crown...However, he answered that Lupe flow was sick & was gonna be the next UP.
THIS is Lupe's time. What he does with it will be the backbone of his career. I recall this old Snoop interview in which he talked about how Jay was a "regular ass rapper" when Biggie was alive. When Biggie died, there was no heir in place so Jay stepped in and he TOOK that shit.
Lupe, while confident, has remained relatively humbled throughout his early career (his 1st two albums). It isn't until now that he's actually come out & said he was nicer than all of these other rappers/emcees. This may be his best shot...
Lupe could be known as the best rapper that has ever lived but honestly the music industry doesn't work that way. Lu even said it, "i hate the music industry" which is why hes retiring after 3 + lupEnd albums.
In addition to that.. i mean if im Lupe fiasco im thankful for the shoutout yet offended at the same time bcz the question was more geared towards "new up n coming rapper" such as drake etc. lu's been rapping for yearss so to put him in the category as Drake as an amateur rapper is undermining.
So this illuminati stuff going around im 100 percent sure lupe has no part of it thats why he said he's not the heir to the throne but i think thats why he hates the music industry!! I mean some of the illuminati and mason stuff is over the top but i think lupe is one of the few rappers i trust when it comes to that stuff.
I agree with the above post.. Jay, Kanye, Nas... many other artists, are sketchy with those illumanti hints. Lupe's addressed it several times in his lyrics that he's not down with it... On one of his live performances, after he performed "Superstar," he says "No new world order!"... Lupe's my favorite artist, hands down.
