It's definitely NOT finished, same was the case with I'm Beamin and Shining Down when they leaked...you can clearly hear the differences when you compare them to the final versions.

Now, if it doesn't follow the same pattern or "changes," that I' Beaming got, then I'll be happy. But as of right now, the singing is just too bad...

No Anonymous, "idolizing" is just another term for dickriding. As in thinking that the song is going to be much different. I'm only saying this, because of what happened with I'm Beaming. Compare the leaked and the finished version, and you'll notice virtually no vocal difference. And some people actually think the leaked one is better... I don't, but that's just me... See? IF the same thing happens with this song (which shouldn't be discarded as a possibility, due to the fact it already happened twice), then saying "it's not finished" as an excuse, is not a valid argument, and that's where some fall in the "idolizing" category.
ReplyDeleteThe signing IS bad, because his core voice is too low, constantly changing his vocal range. Plus, he's not actually singing, he's merely vocalizing (increasing his voice pitch to go along the melody), and this is noticeable because the voice you hear in this song, is the same voice you hear in his talking voice. For example, have you heard Matthew Santos talking? And have you heard him signing? Hear any difference between the two voices? Yes, you will. That's my point.
But what do I know? You guys probably think Drake can sing...

Lupes delivery fits the song

And also, don't you see that what most people complain about is the singing part? The lyrics are great, the beat is also good, but Wasalu simply CANNOT sing. THAT's where I say some idolize Lupe at everything he does, whether good or bad, and that's not being a real fan, that just lying to yourself.
Why am I being negative towards this song? Because due the history we've had with leaked Lupe songs, I've noticed that there's NO vocal difference between the unfinished version and the finished version. And since the ONLY thing that makes this song weak is the singing, then I don't see why bother. BUT if the song gets any vocal arrangement, then I'd be happy.
Please don't use the fact I said "idolizing" as a counter-argument, that won't win the argument. Just accept the fact that your beloved Lupe doesn't sing. The song is good, the lyrics are great, but the singing is not cool. And if it makes you feel better, let's just say its my opinion.
-Lupe isn't singing. If you call that singing then there's something wrong with you (yes, i so went there!).

Lupe is not, technically speaking, singing; he's TRYING to, and this process is called vocalizing; trying to increase/decrease your voice pitch to be able to go along the melody. This is not considered singing per se, it's considered a part of it. This is just a simple generalization. But Lupe simply can't do it, because his voice is just not made for that, and that, regardless of the beat and the lyrics (which in my opinion are great), is what makes the overall song very weak.

He likes all types of music and isnt confined to a small box that would have him make 500 of the same exact songs with the overkilled motifs n themes like other rappers. Lupe is doing us as society and listening community justice with his different styles and awareness.He give us social problem in songs inorder to present it in a way that we will recieve it. Shining Down was basically A intro track saying like "I'm Back" and What you want seems as if he is telling a story about a girl thats corrupted by the world (mark of the beast tattoo) and she has no clue about her surroundings and things like that (morals people do you have any maybe u can understand the song and not just listen to it because it makes ur head bounce) and its laid back anyways!!!! And that's fine that you kind of dislike rap (but are a fan of Lupe?), the point is, that on an artist level (which Lupe is, correct?), the singing is simply not good. Let me simplify it for you:
Let's say you totally loved a movie, but then a movie critic tells you the overall movie was poor/bad, and you say its not, and then you get into an endless argument between what YOU like, and what actually makes a movie, a good one. This is exactly what happens here. I'm NO music critic at all, but I do happen to sing R&B myself, and I know that the singing on the song is just bad. And I already stated that the lyrics and the smooth beat are great, but Lupe's singing are not as great as the other elements that compose the song. Rappers don't sing (that's why some people see Drake as hip-hop salvation lol), and that's also why they have to collab with singers to do choruses and bridges.
If you like the song, I see no problem with that.
