Lupe and Jay went in over the same beats quite often. For this tape Trackstar The DJ mixed those tracks together so that you can compare them and decide who went in harder... Props to TSS
Mixtape: TSS x Trackstar the DJ present "From Marcy to Madison St." (Jay-Z vs. Lupe Fiasco)

silly, since Lupe is leaps and bounds better than Jay. Dead Presidents, Diamonds, Ignorant Shit, Pressure, So Ghetto, Thank You...every instance that comes to mind Lu wins by TKO
ReplyDeleteThe one thing that to me shows lupe is close to unfuckwitable is the fact that no one dares rap over any of his beats. No mainstream artist every take lupes beats and rap over them, n lupe has cold beats. and its to protect themselves. If ur nice take a lupe beat and it rap it better than he.
ReplyDeletei think only in pressure jay>lu
ReplyDeleteYeah Lu Killed em...but both of em got alot of em by miles
ReplyDeleteLupe's so BEAST that when he jumps on other ppls beats he OWNS it, then when other rappers jump on that same beat we're like what r u doin, when in fact it wasnt lupe's beat to begin with..
ReplyDeleteie. Popular Demand
Turnt up freestyle etc
"i think only in pressure jay>lu"
ReplyDelete^^^^^
No Sign. Lu Ate Jay On The Track.. All Those Wheel Of fortune References.. And Not to mention.. "they want me to make prince pants but i withstand i aint gotten into that, a lil big (notorious BIG) in the waist two pocket (Tupac it) on the back... Lupe>
i catch it.dont hate, i prefer jay on pressure
ReplyDeletecos, Jay did go hard on Pressure, but what about the original verses on Trials & Tribulations..those are no joke too.
ReplyDeleteBut there's no point in arguing who's better lol. It's all preference. Enjoy Hip Hop for what it is.
When can we get a fucking release date from lasers. Also we are waiting for his 1st single. But anyway lupe would kill jay on every blueprint 3 song. So lupe start doing something to promote yourself thats on the real right there.D MONEY IM GONE.
ReplyDeleteJay-Z killed it on Reasonable Doubt and started to decline. Lupe killed it on Food and Liquor and started to incline. Thus, Lupe > Jay-Z
ReplyDeleteNobody follows the Scorecard anymore haha.. This is soo hard. I fell asleep during Ignorant Shit so I forgot why but I put
ReplyDeleteWhere I'm From (Should be Angels?) - Lupe
Then, So Ghetto - Jay
Pressure - Jay
Sittin Sidewayz - Lupe
Dynasty Intro - Jay
Dear Summer - TIE, the tracks are so similar and both pack heat, I need to listen it again.
Dead Presidents - Jay, it hurts cause Lupe's verse is beyond ill, but I mean come on it's Dead Presidents..
Thank You - Lupe
Ignorant Shit - Jay
You, Me, Him And Her - Lupe, by eons.
And finally Diamonds - Lupe
Which leaves me with 5-5 lol, need to break that tie..
In Pressure:
ReplyDeleteLupe > Jay-Z
Wow I can't believe ppl think Jay's verse on pressure was better than Lu's. I mean it's pretty damn clear who's was better, otherwise you need to clean your ears.
ReplyDeleteHBomb- well isn't the pt of this mixtape was to rate who's was better?
^^Even though Lu lyrically outclassed Jay on Dead Presidents, I would still give it to Jay cuz that is his signature song. Other than that, Lu wins.
ReplyDeleteIt's mixed like that for a reason H. Bomb..
ReplyDeleteIgnorant Shit are you serious have you ever even listened to the track, it's 3 minutes of "Hey guys I'm Lupe, I'm real happy about my label, let me go give shoutouts to 20 people respect to jay thx im out". There's barely any content in the entire song how can you even question that.
If you think that Jay didn't put any work in on Pressure then it's obvious the entire fist half of his verse went way over your head..Lupe kept it real too but also had twice the content. It might be a toss up but just don't act like it's on some unanimous shit.
ReplyDeleteNineteen comments and not once has the term stan been used. Just an observation.
ReplyDeleteIt's Like Watching Pacquiao Vs Clottey All Over Again. Jigga-Block,block,block while Lu-throws them 1,231 punches to the chest.Game Over
ReplyDelete@ The second comment; Chamillionaire...Young Buck...Joell Ortiz...not mainstream at all..
ReplyDeleteI really, really like Blueprint 3's Thank You. Lupe kilt it for sure, but Jay's third verse just epic.
ReplyDeleteI'll give Lu the upper hand on most, but u can't like Lu over Jay on "So Ghetto.". I mean Jay said "keep standing there like you got a cape on ya, fine, you'll be in a black suit a long time.". That's one of the hardest lines ever.
ReplyDelete@pv1
ReplyDeleteWow, that's true. Nice observation. The question is, how long will that last? Lol
@4ziATiCh
Pressure:
Lupe > Jay-Z
You simply can't compare the the similes, metaphors and wordlplay. Jay-Z did go in, but overall not better.
Now if you like his better, then that's another story.
I like Jay in Pressure, but Lupe takes it. Great song...They need a real collabo album
ReplyDelete"Usher"ing in the regime, they want me to make "Prince" pants
ReplyDeleteBut I with"Stan", I ain't gotten into that
A little "B.I.G" in the waist, "Tu-pac" on the back
Call them Nu-vi's, "O.G."s covered in blue dye
Give 'em "The Game", that's like giving chocolate to the fat
^No contest, right? Well i do believe Jay was close, but still, its just not a fair comparison.
ReplyDeleteIf you notice, giving to the "The Game" (also double entendre) chocolate to the fat, obviously makes you fatter, which in turn, makes (his) pants not to fit you.(in context, giving into "the game," makes people not to listen to his songs, but he doesn't care; cuz he ain't dumbing down nothin')
Its pretty easy for Lu to take Jay's beats, listen to his verses, get inspired, then make some ryhmes intended on out-doing Jay specifically. Thats why most he verses are better. But the used the weaker Dead President verse from Jay. Earlier Jay> Lu (usuallly). But Lu> Jay Post-Streets is Watching.

That's only like a triple entendre right there, no comparison at all.
Lupe's Dead Presidents is just too sick. Definitely in my top 10 mixtape tracks and it's better than Jay's classic original. I love Jay-Z's Thank You but Lupe's is still just better. It's crazy how good he is. Lupe takes the cake.
ReplyDeleteActually I have to say its a tie between Lupe and Jay's "Thank You". Jay goes really hard in that last verse.
ReplyDeletelolzz at these niggas
ReplyDeletein pressure jays verse better than lupes? ill give it to you in other songs like dead presidents , but come on son? you have to give credit where its due
tot he guy above, it really doesn't matter if jay "freestyles" which he really doesn't,... lupe, in a lyrical level is up ahead with the big guys, and hes such a young kid. he just needs to put more passion to hip-hop, and have a longer career. but lyrically, not musically, lupe already surpassed jay. if that hurts, then take it as my opinion, if it makes yo feel better
To the guy above, don't worry you're opinion doesn't mean shit to me. But this is a cool mix session, it lets you see the perspective of both artists as well as some brief nostalgia.
ReplyDelete^LMAO OWNED.
ReplyDeleteI'm not that Anonymous, by the way, but...
Well, Lupe IS better than Jay in a lyrical level; but musically, Lupe is too narrow, he should makes his music broader without missing the message (something I believe will finally happen in Lasers). I guess it all comes down to preference...
Peace.
