it cost Jay like 2 million to buy his contract and that was from RocaFella not from Def Jam. You Cannot buy your contract from a major, it's not monetarily feasible. If Lupe wanted to spend all of his money, then maybe he could do it, but he'd be broke and thus couldn't put out shit....
