Lupe premiered a new track off Lasers in Winston-Salem, NC last week (check the video HERE). Turns out that it was produced byNeedlz, who previously produced tracks like Hurt Me Soul, Tilted and The Pen & The Needlz for Lupe.
The hook of the track was written by Cassius D. Kalb, who also wrote Bruno Mars' hit Just The Way You Are.
UPDATE: Needlz revealed that the track is tentatively called "Till I Get There."
In my opinion tt sounds like a few of yall dont want to "share" Lupe...
LOL get it though, some folks who are into that mainstream shit may not understand Lu and what he's trying to do for rap, but I think we should give em a chance, and let boy (meaning Lupe) get some dough in the process =)
I'm all for lupe getting cake, but doing it this way makes him lose integrity. I mean it kinda goes against everything he's doing with japanese cartoon.
But i agree that it's a good way to introduce lupe to a new audience.
now people can shut up talkin "this sound like a song atlantic made him do, this sucks, he sold out" blah blah blah lupe worked with needlz before Hurt Me Soul, Tilted, & THE PEN AND THE NEEDLZ is one of lu's craziest lyrical songs
Lupe is fine. you hear the chorus for one song and you think lupe is gone for ever. think about what the whole album is about... the lasers manifesto. your full of shit if you think 99% of the other rappers would come out with a manifesto to the changes they want in the world and make an album out of it. have faith..
"We as rappers must decide what's most impor-tant And i can't help the poor if i'm one of them So i got rich and gave back To me that's the win, win" -Jay-Z (richer than all of you)
It sounds like a good song and all, but I'd rather they let Lupe write his own verse's and chorus's if he's the one rapping/singing them... or at least co-write them.
To the Anon a few posts above me, what would I rather have another "Superstar" or another "Hurt Me Soul". Well I wanna say both songs are great but "Hurt Me Soul" (In my opinion) is one of the best rap songs ever released. It's way up there with Nas's best.
i dont get why yal tryna jap on this song like it's some sellout ass track. even IF it's a pop crossover, the message sound VERY positive and really in line with the entire lasers mindset....
Lupe can never win. if he tries to go a little more mainstream and do something people besides a small sect of hardocore fans. whereas if he stays the same then atlantic hates him and no one gets any music. he's trying to balance. theres nothing wrong with radio songs. i listen to the radio...
Needlz is a beast and imo is the man behind 2 of the best Lupe songs.. And I'm feeling like "Till I Get There" might be his 3rd masterpiece working with Lupe..
And it's nothing new that Lupe gets choruses written for him.. If I remember right there are couple of co-writers written in the booklet for "The cool".. And most of those are helps with choruses and that type of stuff..
And lupe has always been rapping over poppy stuff... Saying anything else is ignorant...
Lupe maybe hasn't had as much mainstream success as he should.. but ya'll look so ignorant when ya'll look at him like some underground cat...
I bet these ppl will call him a sell out if he does get the mainstream appeal and a much bigger fan base. Lupe is trying to get thw balance right by making his label happy and his fans. Every1 was pissed with him when he wasn't releasing music n now he is sum ppl hatin on the new songs even tho they are similar to his old stuff n they only heard a small segment. Even tho its a small segment listen to the lyrics! He still lupe ya heard!
The track is hot, the chorus, is hot and Lupe layed down dope verses. Clearly what artist does not get assistance on songs. Check all the credits. Its always a co-write or co-producer. Some of you must not know real Lupe.
This pop stuf doesn't suit him. Don't turn into a B.O.B!
ReplyDeleteGuess this isn't the single then since Kane Beatz is on that
ReplyDeleteInteresting. Needlz is a beast though
I agree with Datkid.

ReplyDeletenonthing is wrong with superstar
ReplyDeleteIt's just a chorus. Artists are helped out with those all the time.
ReplyDeleteexactly
ReplyDeleteLET LUPE DO HIS THING MAN. I KNOW YALL HARDCORE FANS BUT
ReplyDeleteHE DONT HAVE TO BE SUPER-LYRICAL, SUPER METAPHORICAL & GOING OFF ON
"EVERY TRACK"
THATS NOT HOW THE GAME WORKS. HAS TO BE A BALANCE. TO GRAB EVERYONE IN.
IF HE WANTS OTHER AUDIENCES TO ENJOY HIS MUSIC THEN THATS FINE. YOU AND EVERYONE ELSE WILL HEAR THE "REAL" LUPE WHEN YOU BUY THE ALBUM.
ONE OR TWO SONGS BEING LIKE THIS ISNT GOING TO HURT AT ALL.
^^^ what this person said.
ReplyDeleteLike I said in the other post there needs to be a balance. That's for Lupe too.
Superstar is gr8. I always go bak 2 that tune...if this is nethin lyk it, i'm happy
