The video is depicting a historical fact from the late 1800s when the white majority was profiting from and being entertained by blackface. And if you saw RapFix you would know it wasn't his idea it was Gil Green's. I think what's more important than whose doing the evil deed is that the deed itself is evil.
Every one his songs have parts that can be interpreted differently. That's what make them relatable to the listener. Unless you want to elaborate on what you mean it sounds like you don't want to have to think.
I'm not really sure if all the blackface fits in here. this song is about "killing these bitches" to use his words. like i get that its about people pretending to be "bad bitches" because thats what we believe our society values but i'm not sure that you make the immediate leap to whats in the video. its powerful imagery but I just don't think it fits the context.
Wow! I didn't have high expectations for the video, but that was deep. Lupe isn't trying to spoon feed people messages or meaning. He isn't going to dumb down his messages and I don't think he should. It's a shame this stuff (music and video message) will go over many people's heads. Good stuff tho. Lu needs to keep the bar high.
