Video: Lupe Fiasco wanted "Mission" to be "uplifting, powerful, and almost ratchet"!

Lupe spoke to Nadeska Alexis over at MTV about coming up with the concept for "Mission". After contemplating for a while, he says it was a eureka moment when he thought of the fight against cancer. He goes on to say that he didn't want it to be sad, instead powerful and "almost ratchet". Watch the interview above and click HERE to read more!

Video: Lupe Fiasco tries to Define what America is w/ New Album

This is what was shown on RapFix Live today. Lupe explained what he's trying to do with his new album. 

"Let's just say that The Great American Rap Album, in its totality, both albums and all the music that's in it is me trying to define what America is. Trying to figure out what an American is..."

If you truly are a part of something and even if you say you take the good with the bad, or the lesser of two evils, you still have to take into consideration the evils and you still have to take in the considerations of the bad."

Video: Lupe Fiasco talks about World Up

You might remember Lupe's involvement with the World Up org. If not, check some vids HERE and HERE. 

Now World Up is looking to raise $25k til Friday to be getting a matching $25k grant from Mozilla so that they can continue their afterschool program. They still need 5k so MTV ACT interviewed Lupe about his involvement with World Up and why we should all donate even if it's just a dollar. Lupe also talked a bit about his new album.

Lupe Fiasco intends to start a conversation with the "Bitch Bad" video!

The above picture of a woman applying black makeup onto her face is a still-shot from the upcoming Gil Green directed video for "Bitch Bad". With the music video's premiere only a few hours away, Lupe said of the clip, "Whether right or wrong, some things need to be said in order to start a conversation..".

Immediately following its simultaneous debut through several MTV outlets, Lupe will join Sway and several other people within the music industry to discuss the video and its message. Be sure to tune into RapFix Live today at 4PM ET so you can chime in on the conversation as well!

Lupe was just on RapFix Live with Nature and Sway, and did one of the best interviews he has ever done. He thanked Nature for being one of the MC's that taught him how to rap, and also for providing the "Fiasco" part to his rap alias via a song off The Firm album.

He also reveals that the creative process of some songs may be halted in order for him to read a book and become more knowledgable on the particular subject. He says that process was applied to his next single "Lamborghini Angels", then spits some of the lyrics off the track:

With her eyes to the ceiling and a needle in her brain, She looks back into the crowd, wipes the blood and then explains, How she slipped from this existence to the realm of the deranged, Her becoming must be halted to reverse what she became, From the looseness of her tongue to the pollution of her aims, To do nothing is barbaric, the solution is humane, You must destory the mind and hopefully retrain, Torture out the wildness and replace it with the tame, Blank slate, when she recovers she won't even know her name, Perfect wife and perfect lover, no resistance, no complaints, May God bless the scientific cure for the insane, Knew that she shouldn't go to school, but she thought that that should change..

It sounds like another chapter of the MYH Saga to me, haha! The process was also applied to a song called "Atomic Misphilosophy" off Food & Liquor 2 Part 2. Also, Sway played a montage of a few members from All City Chess Club expressing desire to work on a full project, to which Lupe replied "Let's do it!". He said a mixtape would be a simpler process than an album as far as the legalities go, so lets hope it comes to fruition. 

Also, he compared the status of CRS to someone going into a coma on the operating table. It's not a gurantee that it will wake up again, but it's definitely not off the table. Most importantly, watch above as Sway plays a six year old clip of himself and Lupe touring Chicago for an episode of MTV's: My Block. When the video was over, Lupe was in tears because some of the people in the clip have already passed away. He goes on to say that watching the video made him feel helpless because even six years later, nothing has changed about his neighborhood and he knows that some of the kids won't make it out of there. 

Personally, this interview struck a huge chord and I can admit that I also shed a few tears. For people outside of the U.S, HERE is an alternate link to that portion of the interview. Will Lupe win "Best Hip Hop Video" at the VMA's?

With the voting closed and the show coming up (airs tomorrow) and all bias aside. What do you think...how good are the chances for Lupe to win the Best Hip Hop Video Award for "The Show Goes On" at this years VMA's? Keep in mind , the fans voted.

He's going against Chris Brown - Look At Me Now, Kanye West - All Of The Lights, Lil Wayne - 6 Foot/7 Foot and Nicki Minaj- Super Bass.
