BANG! Lupe does it again. Such a great song! # TetsuoSeason
ReplyDeleteIt brings back so many good times. Love that old school
DeleteFinally! I've been waiting for songs like these, I don't like how nowadays all that's on is men rapping about how many girls they can get or how much money they have. That's why I want to go back to the 2000's. Great job Lupe!
Deleteim honestly glad that this was the first single. Crack is good (in my opinion) but i feel that this song is way better
ReplyDeleteWhen I hear Lu say "gimme that" in the beginning, his voice sounds high like his old tracks, but maybe it's just due to being a radio rip. Also the "uh" at the start of the second verse was something he used to do a lot, which I missed.
ReplyDeleteGood song. Sounds like a polished Lasers era track.
Hey check out some youtube versions they sound more natural and less "noisy" than these 3:26 versions. Can't tell which is the real version yet
ReplyDeletedope
ReplyDeletesuper chill, this is a potential hit
ReplyDeleteI love this!
ReplyDeleteLupe to the uk
ReplyDeleteI really love this type of song.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't too lyrical (i know it's his trademark), but it is a feel good song.
I miss these feel good songs he used to do!
FnF UP!!!
This sounds a lot like Kanye's 'Family Business' but I'm not sure what the original piano sample is.
ReplyDeleteYea it reminds me of a mix of Family Business and Never Forget You from Lasers
DeleteYeah that's what I thought too.
DeleteI love this. I wonder why most of the youtube versions are slowed down though.
ReplyDeleteThey're trying to avoid copyright infringement
DeleteYeeeeeeeeeeees! Eid gift from lupe
ReplyDeleteits okay

ReplyDeleteAgreed!....the flows ok tho. I honestly think crack is better. But this song's dull as hell.
DeleteTHIS SONG IS LITERALLY STORYTELLING FFS
DeleteThank God 4 Lupe Fiasco
ReplyDeleteTOY-T
Negative arsholes have arrived on this blog
ReplyDeleteIt's different to what lu has done and I personally love it
ReplyDeleteThis is dope.
ReplyDeleteEid Mubarak Wasalu! :) And shukran
ReplyDeleteGOOD Music in an FNF way
ReplyDeleteDope song. so good. now he just need the video to come out soon and not a year after.
ReplyDeleteNot the best, but much much better. I just feel like his style overall is a cop out. It isn't really unique. His flow sounds like everyone else rapping now, but I have to admit I do like this song a lot.
ReplyDeleteLike who and which songs?
DeleteJust got to work and bumped this in the morning... Everything just feels better... Love the song... Does anyone else think the kid Lupe is talking about is Chief Keef... Maybe a veiled reference?
ReplyDeleteEd nailed the hook!
ReplyDeleteSo good! Great job Lu & Ed
ReplyDeleteAwesome song, love it!
ReplyDeleteTo realise that your future is someone else's past..............
ReplyDeleteCatchy as hell. Now I gotta go back and see what gems I missed from Lupe. Always stuff to catch on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th time around
ReplyDeleteIts ok......just needed more spunk to it.
ReplyDeleteGet this number 1. A smooth winter song
ReplyDeleteThis is Lupe!!! Listen to the song and just feel happy
ReplyDeleteCheck out my rendition on the audio streaming!

No coincidence this came out on Columbus Day!!!
ReplyDeleteDay before eid ma man
ReplyDeleteLupe To The UK!!! FS! Ed Sheeren Tell Him!!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that made me not like the song as much is that Lupe and Ed didn't actually get to work together...:C
ReplyDeleteLupe just picked one of the hooks that Ed did since they had the same A.R.
I square it would of been so much more magical if Lupe actually had a chance to work with Ed! :C
Gimme that old school love right nooow..........
ReplyDeleteI can't believe this has become acceptable. The fan base has definitely changed. This song is so boring and unoriginal.
ReplyDeleteIf we could only compare this to other past first singles, ask yourself, do you like this anywhere as close to Kick, Push, Superstar, Words I Never Said, or Around my Way?
ReplyDeleteYou make a great point.
DeleteHowever, I think that was a time when Lu was hungry.
This album...Y&T is going to have a lot of outside features not in the FnF group.
Lupe right now, I think he just want to make music. No longer wants to be G.O.A.T. since there is no such thing like he said in Jayzus.
I think this album is going to be either very mellow or to just make music for the heck of it.
Fair point. Although, just for clarification, Show Goes On was the first single from Lasers.
DeleteFair point. Although, just for clarification, Show Goes On was the first single from Lasers.
DeleteNah, this makes Lasers singles sound good. Can't compare to Kick, Push, Daydreamin, I Gotcha, Dumb It Down, Hip Hop Saved My Life, Superstar. Lupe is becoming unrecognizable from his early self. He's going to be known for some boring pop rapper is he continues to go down this route.
ReplyDeleteCrazy how people judge everything on singles
ReplyDeleteikr it would surprise me if the album itself is hard as hell. and from the looks of it...it might be. spice1 tweeted he's on the album. that's lu's 1st initial influence in rap. and this is the most feat heavy album he's done.
Deletetypo...should be wouldn't*
DeleteWow didn't know that! Wonder who else is featured... Need a tracklist. I wonder if Imogen Heap is on there. I think the album will be hard. Singles are for the radio they don't set the tone or feel of the track. But this is a mellow/chill song with a meaning not too hard to get. Chiraq youth anthem.
DeleteJudging from his last two albums.
DeleteLupe dropping another awesome song. Don't get how people judge this guy for every song he drops. Just listening to all his music old to present you can hear/see hes improved for the better, not the worst. I understand everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but all this negative talk for every little thing he does just seems so stupid. Keep up with the great work Lupe
ReplyDelete#OldSchoolLove
He acknowledge a slip not a fall. SMH. Get your facts right.
DeleteEminem "rap God" >>>>>>>
ReplyDeleteI wasn't really feeling the single like that at first. In part due to the aggressiveness of music out now and overall sound, and also in comparison to the free stuff Lu has given us as late. But as I really sit back and listen to and think about this song...it's approach is actually a breath of fresh air. That's what Lu was dubbed when he first came out. I also think this is a very strategic single and is not totally indicative of what the overall sound of the album will be. The single is a seemingly a money maker while Lu is still able to remain himself on the track. _Law
ReplyDeleteCouldn't have said it better!
DeleteYes bro
ReplyDeleteLupe's only getting better and better, if your his REAL fan/s you will know this!
ReplyDeleteinto it !
ReplyDeleteexcited for the album
So glad this is getting played on the radio! Really happy it played today (:
ReplyDeleteUk support this!
ReplyDeleteDnt be surprised if t&y FLOP.....SMH....SURE HOPE THE ALBUM IS MORE EXCITING THAN THIS SORROW.
ReplyDeleteI GUARANTEE you that it will not flop.
DeleteHow can one be so sure???...granted nowadayz if youre not going platinum, then youre not "moving shit". Gold isnt in anymore for some so sorry. Smh...this can possibly be the most anticipated/over rated album he's made. So im not gone let my hair down just yet. So dont get your panties ina knot just yet, k.
DeleteHow do you figure? Lupe lost the people that buy albums. His core following has dwindled down. He's like a pop rapper now and look at f&l 2 it hasn't even sold 150k.
DeleteAnd thats why its subject to Flop.....perhaps he should make a couple hits with kendrick to sortof boost himself back up. Thatll be insane!....no one would expect something like that. Itll definately spark things back up. But idk maybe not.
DeleteI'm so sure because of what I know so far. FL2 flopped because it was BARELY promoted but this single right here sounds like a radio song, Crack sounds like it will be a radio song. He said he has songs with Rick Ross, Guy Sebastion, Chris Brown, etc. which all make radio music. He said he cancelled FnL2 part 2 because part 1 didn't sell and he eventually has bills to pay. Because of that, I feel like he's making a super radio friendly album compared to what he's done before to get more people to hear him, buy his stuff, and raise sales to then blow everybody away on his final album Skulls and that's something I don't have a problem with at all.
DeleteLupe=tetsuo - other artists=youth a full feature album.
DeleteHow do you know its "full featured", if you only know that ross, sebastian and browns gonna be on it???......like who else??? Cuz thats not even half filled. And the hell with ross!....he surely wont affect or effect the sales of the album. Maybe the likes of a particular song maybe. Not overall tho. So if theres anyway you can substantiate your claim of "full featured",thatll be great...also like other artists other than your 3.
DeleteI think it's a pretty good theory this thread gave.
DeleteTetsuo & "Youth"...where youth can be referring to all the upcoming artists/good artists.
This song sounded pretty L.A.S.E.R. like. So maybe this will be the album that is the successor to Lasers (probably not sell-wise), but this time he gets to do what he wants to do.
I believe this album is going to be the most he ever had in terms of feature.
Oh and I also think that this album is for revenue wise.
Then Lupe finally finishes his last album with all he got! It sounds like a good plan to me. XD
You believing doesnt mean a thing. Lets be honest here, think about sales and production. Think about the few who you really think would purchase the album compared to the many cheap theiving non supportive jerks whos gonna no doubt pirate it. And as for production, i personally think thatll do fine, but thats me. But many others are too mundane and choosy. Btw radio play doesnt promise a damn thing if those albums arent disappearing off those shelves big baby. The touring might help more than the radio considering many dnt even listen to it anymore because of the bull thats being spinned. Agree?...so yea, touring, originality, good production wit a touch of diff artists. Like damn lupe we know what you rep but lets hear a track with you and lil wayne or chainz or eminem ect....im sure lu can persuay em to be positive for a single damn song. Lol. Sales sales sales!!!.
DeleteThe anon that said its a full feature album was a different anon. I didn't say its full feature but I know that the people who are feautured in it bring a "radio" feel to the music they make. Now I know radio doesn't promise sales but it helps. The difference between fnl2 and lasers(beside the sound) was radio play. Lasers had more radio play even though FnL2 was better than Lasers. Lasers still had WAYYYY better sales so your arguement about the originality and production quality being better to get sales is flawed. I do agree with the touring part. Over all I think this album is taking the lasers route with radio singles AND the touring and because of that, it will not flop like FnL2. Go capture a larger audience with T&Y and hit'em hard with Skulls Lu!
DeleteOk to you fnl2 is better than lasers. But lasers is wayyy underrated and was delayed meaning alot of interest was lost. Lasers shouldve or couldve possibly went platinum just with the anticipation along with the rest that promoted or helped it. But what i said isnt flawed at all....its common sense!. Think of the music industry and "fans" today. N how can you say you understand that radio play doesnt promise ish then turn around an run rite back to radio play basically???......im no lawyer but damn, i caught that, smh....btw many things helps but doesnt assure sales. I think production and collision with selected artists along with touring will make a world of a difference. Simply because he'll be expanding and reaching to other fan bases. Now, as for originality goes, people want the lu we know, not the "old", but the story telling original creative intense exciting compelling lu. Not the mocking i can do it too but better lu. Rip kick push. Smh.
DeleteWe'll just have to wait and see.........
DeleteWhat I said was that I agree radio doesn't promise sales BUT it helps. It doesn't guarantee a platinum album but if more people hear it, more people will buy it. And I'm not saying Lasers is bad. I enjoyed the content and I stood up for it when "fans" rejected it but my opinion is that FnL2 was better. I know that Lasers was underrated and I know that FnL2 should have done better than it did so all of your arguements are flawed...
DeleteYou said working with select artist will help. THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING! The reason why I'm saying this album will sell better than FnL2 is because the "select artists" featured that have more of a radio presence will lead to more people listening(more fan bases will listen) and lead to more sales.
All im sayin is dnt be surprised if it turns into floppy disc T&Y. Radio isnt enuff sorrry.
DeleteAnd oh, just because they "hear" it doesnt mean theyll buy!!!. Not arguments just facts. Why buy when you can burn, thats the logic of many. He ll need some gooood features. Not just ross, sebastian and brown. Maybe club bangers, just diff ish other than the norm. Versatility, like bring us some different to hear. Surprise us ya kno. But its been said, we'll have to wait and see how it goes...
DeleteNot trying to make this into an arguement but I don't know what you're not understanding. I'm not saying that radio will make this album sell out all around the world. I'm only saying it will HELP with sales if people "hear" it. Yes people will always steal off the internet but some people will always buy. Do you understand? And ross, sebastion, and brown aren't the only features, and Crack sounds like a club banger so all of this that you're saying is needed is exactly what this album seems to have so far so I don't understand where your "flop" arguement comes from..
DeleteLets just see how it goes sweety.
DeleteOkay honey :)
DeleteI know Lupe loves his fans and I strongly believe we are the best fan base. But as of late there is more negativity than positive comments. I thought with a new single this thread would have much more comments. We critique him so much more now. People change, and I'm sure he cares for his fans but this is also this man's means of living. Lupe still isn't that famous and his net worth is only I think 5 million. That's just his worth not what he really has. He isn't balling out like other rappers plus he does have a whole family with his mother and other siblings he takes care of. Everyone has radio singles. Even artist signed with Jay has to make radio track cause he still pushes them to do so. This is one track of many. Lu has grown and certain situations have changed him to see the game in a different light. He didn't like what he saw so he made his self the black sheep of rap. But as of late he's felt that he wants to come back and make a change. He acknowleged a slip! Let that man get back into it! Who else has acknowleged that they fell off a bit? Not Jay with that sorry holy grail. I have my ticket to the T&Y concert in Dallas. I say hit the show, hear some tracks, then judge.
ReplyDeleteEven though I'm saying that this album will be more for radio, I'm not saying I disagree with it. Its annoying that whenever Lupe makes radio friendly music, his "Fans" reject it. I support him no matter what he puts out. I've enjoyed his music for years so I'm not going to critique him for trying to get more money. Its HIS profession and nobody chooses a profession if they don't plan to make money in it. Do your thing Lu!
DeleteThe only time we should ever reject Lu is when he goes mainstream with a song that ain't meaningful.
DeleteWhich will probably never happen. Every single had a meaning beneath the chorus.
I know in my gut that his last album will be something magical to end his Atlantic deal on.
If anything, I hope he just does a greatest hits album or something for his last contract record. The faster he's out of that contract, the faster he can focus on everything we have missed out on because he couldn't release it on Atlantic due to differences. Songs like Shining Down for example, marketable and still very intellectual. I think it would've been a great single for all sides, until Atlantic scrapped the first version of the lasers album.
