GITDT review from June 7th - Los Angeles

"In attending the June 7th GITD concert, I pretty much expected it to be one of the greatest concerts LA had to offer, and just as it did April 21st & 22nd, it proved to be the best of the best. From what I read in concert reviews, many said that not that many people were there on time to witness the unbelievable performances of Lupe Fiasco. But to my surprise, right when Lupe started, there seemed to be a good amount of people inside the venue. Which was a great start to the evening. My view to the stage had a partial view to the backstage area, so when the lights dimmed, from the backstage, out runs Lupe in his infamous gold jacket, and he makes his way to the front to deliver, what I call, the best 30 minute performance anyone could carry out. He started the evening with ‘The Coolest’, and even just that got everyone into it. I’ve never once been to a Lupe concert, so I really didn’t know what to expect. I mean, I expected something amazing from Lupe, that’s for sure, but nothing like this. This was seriously, complete amazement the whole way through.

Lupe continued to enlighten us with his ‘Kick Push’, ‘Hip Hop Saved My Life’, ‘Go Go Gadget Flow’, ‘Streets on Fire’, ‘Paris, Tokyo’, ‘Fighters’, ‘Hi-Definition’, ‘Superstar’, and for his finale, ‘Daydreamin’. And as for Daydreamin’, that performance was pretty freaking awesome. Lupe took that stage, and danced with so much energy, and pretty much owned it completely. Matthew did come out for a majority of the songs, and he also matched Lupe’s gold jacket. :)

As Kanye finished up, ‘Homecoming’, the tune for the the final song of the evening started to play, ‘Touch the Sky’. I have to say, I was awaiting that performance ever since I read that Lupe came out to sing with Kanye at one of the first concerts. So as Kanye was rapping, it got closer to Lupe’s part, I looked toward the back of the stage, and I see Lupe start coming up the stairs, and waits for his cue to hop on. When it did come, Lupe jumps on stage and does his thing… I was in complete awe.Everyone in the venue went crazy cheering, and together, with the amazing Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West got to finish off the concert with the best performance ever."
