Video: Lupe Fiasco hands the mic to a fan while performing "Switch"!

During his tour stop at the Wellmont Theater in New Jersey, Lupe detoured from the setlist and took a request from a fan in the front row. While performing "Switch", Lupe gives the microphone to the fan and lets him finish the verse. Homie definitely did his thing, but that last "SWITCH!" is a tough one hahaha...

Pics x Winners: Lupe Fiasco Outstanding Fan Awards

Lupe's first Outstanding Fan Awards went down in NYC yesterday. Now before we get into anything I want to say, how many artists give away awards to fans and appreciate them like that? That's an awesome thing of Lupe to do.

Not only was it a night of awards for fans but also an album release party so some special guests came through, namely Pharrell, Kenna, Loaded Lux, Guy Sebastian and more.

Awards were given out in different categories and we were awarded with the award for Best Fansite! Check out a list of winners and more pics below!

Video: Killer Mike on Lupe Fiasco Fans & the Polarization of Hip Hop

In a recent interview, Killer Mike describes the extremes in Hip-Hop and how Lupe Fiasco fans can consider themselves "elitist". After watching it, I took to twitter to discuss it with Killer Mike because I felt like he was putting the responsibility of the attitudes of the fans on Lupe. But we hashed it all out.

What do you think?

Watch the video above. He starts talking about Lupe at 4:45.

Norma Briseno's research paper about Lupe Fiasco

Norma from LA recently interviewed me for a research paper about Lupe and the purpose of Hip Hop. She just put it online on her Tumblr and I thought I'd share it with you. Here's the part in which she quotes me:

Sean the Robot from Germany and founder of the LupEND Blog stated that, “[Lupe] is doing the same thing that 2pac did or what Nas and Common are doing- shedding light on issues in society that others don’t want to see or talk about.”

When asked as to what is the significance of hip hop he replied, “hip hop is really all about the lyrics, it’s poetry and if people just use it to make a quick buck, then it really loses its purpose.”

Lupe commented that there is always this idea of material success and material excess. His music is not about making millions nor is it about selling the most albums, but rather about making a change in the world.

Sean the Robot ended the interview with, “As cheesy as it sounds, I want Lupe to be remembered as someone who tried to change the world with his music and who at least tried to make people’s lives better.”

Tattoo: 'God guard me from the Ungodly'

Another tattoo that makes you say: 'Ouch!' - Kara got this tattoo which features a line from Lupe's 'Hurt Me Soul.' - Check out what she says about it below:

This is my second tattoo. I got it February 24, two days after my 21st birthday. Ever since my first tattoo in 09, I've always wanted lyrics to a song.

Lupe is one of my favorites, so I figured why not. Besides I believe this line from Hurt Me Soul is beyond powerful!
